The US has experienced dramatic changes due to unfortunate events that have plagued the nation. These events, which are often not surprising anymore, have impacted daily life and daily eating habits. To gain insight into their consumer’s eating patterns, Uber Eats, a food delivery service, completed an online research study with over 1,000 adults over the age of 18. And the results were shocking.
American Eating Habits:
- Couples are twice as likely to order delivery than a single person.
- 57% of adults binge-eat when watching TV.
- The biggest trigger for overeating with millennials is when watching TV. 78% admitted to doing it on occasion.
- 1 in 4 couples argues over what restaurant to order from and end up ordering from more than one.
- 4 in 10 mothers have to order from more than one restaurant due to their children never agreeing on the same place.
- 43% of adults feel guilty when ordering delivery.
Pause: Uber Eats just discovered that my attempts to cook a lavish three-course meal for my hopeful impressions on men has a high chance of being dismissed if a relationship happens. We’ll just be ordering delivery. End Pause. Back to the numbers.
- 12% admitted to sometimes stealing a co-worker’s lunch.
- 5% of people hate when another person at their table orders the same meal as them.
- 27% of adults hate sharing food with people they’re dining with.
- 22% dislike dining in large groups.
- Majority of adults prefer splitting the bill by items (paying for what you ordered) rather than splitting down the middle.
- A late-night meal once a week is twice as common than brunch.
- 56% of Americans knowingly eat expired food.
- 50% of Americans have admitted to eating food that has fallen on the floor.
When’s the last time you ate a french-fry from off the floor?
