Let’s just get right to it. What’s Emilia Clarke’s diet secret? The quickest answer is le shocking: The actress doesn’t have one. She DOESN’T diet. Emilia Clarke, our Game of Thrones‘ Daenerys Targaryen and Solo‘s Qi’ra doesn’t follow any strict guidelines that cut out everything but air. But how does she stay looking so fresh and fierce? So, turns out that it’s a lifestyle Clarke adopted.
Clarke follows her Australian personal trainer, James Duigan’s clean and lean lifestyle and cookbook, Clean and Lean for Life: The Cookbook. He follows “the four pillars of mindset, nutrition, movement, and sleep.”
This isn’t a quick fix. This is an entire lifestyle you have to be dedicated to. It involves clearing your body free of any toxins and replacing those with “fresh unprocessed foods that are close to the way nature made them.” This program isn’t about results, but the way you feel — which is inspiring and feels more attainable.
On this “diet” — if you want to call it that — you would eat protein, fat, and vegetables for every meal. Sounds easy right? Because it is! We’re basically eating like this (or should be — look away, McDonald’s!). Eating lean and clean also means limiting your alcohol (NO!), caffeine (SAY IT ISN’T SO), and sugar (NOPE) consumption. But that just brings back the balance back into your life when you start to cut the bad out.
For an example of what you’d find in his cookbook, check out this recipe for his Super Green Smoothie. It’s made with ingredients that are tasty, healthy, and will fill you up, like organic rice milk, vanilla protein, maca powder, avocado, spinach, and blueberries.
