Apple pie in a can
Before your trip, in a medium sized bowl, mix together the sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and salt.
Then, peel and core the apples. Then slice them and place them in a bowl filled with the water and lemon juice.
Once ready to make, cut 4 small circles in the store-bought dough using the cans.
Place a circle of dough at the bottom of each can. Then line the can with dough as well.
Drain the apples and coat them in the sugar mixture.
Evenly distribute them between the cans. Then pour 1 tablespoon of the sweetened condensed milk over each can, and then cut up 2 tablespoons of butter over each can.
Cut the remaining dough into thin strips and then place them over the tops of the cans in a lattice pattern.
Place the cans in the oven and bake for 30 minutes. Then remove them and place tin foil over the tops of the cans to keep the crusts from burning, and place them back in the oven and bake for another 20 – 30 minutes, or until the apples are soft and tender.
Keep tinfoil on and pack to enjoy on your trip
