Preheat the oven. Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
Spoon 1 ½ tablespoons cookie dough onto the prepared baking sheet. Place a few extra chocolate chips flat side-up into the mounds of cookie dough and bake according to your favorite recipe or the package instructions.
Once the cookies are baked and cooled, melt the remaining chocolate chips with the coconut oil at 45 second intervals in the microwave until very smooth.
Dip a toothpick into the melted chocolate and draw spider legs off of the visible chocolate chips. Freeze for 5 minutes to set the chocolate and allow to come to room temperature before serving.
