Meghan Markle And Prince Harry Are Spending Christmas Morning Apart For A Weird Reason

From holiday pancakes to festive movies, Christmas morning is often full of family traditions. It’s exactly what fills the air with that magical feeling! But when you’re a part of the royal family, Christmas morning may look a bit different than your average household. (And no, we’re not talking about the opulent decor and lavish outfits). Instead, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry probably won’t spend Christmas morning together, and it’s all because of a royal tradition.

Apparently, royal men and women eat breakfast separately on Christmas morning.

According to Darren McGrady, a former chef for the royal family, Christmas breakfast doesn’t consist of a single gathering. As he told People, breakfast is typically served on trays and delivered straight to the women in their bedrooms. (Breakfast in bed, FTW.)

McGrady also shares that the royal ladies will typically eat fruit, and maybe even a boiled egg. It’s the ultimate easy and light breakfast, but to be honest, we’d likely only follow suit if there was a promise of cinnamon buns later on. Oh, and did we mention that they don’t have to leave their rooms?

At first, it might sound like a royal Christmas dream come true. But when you consider that the royal men are downstairs indulging in foods like bacon, sausage, kippers, and kidneys — a “full-on fry up,” as McGrady says — one can’t help but wonder how fun a joint feast would be.

Because of this tradition, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry probably won’t be able to eat breakfast as a royal couple on Christmas morning. Let’s hope they get a chance to meet up later on and eat all the food… together!
