During Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s 16-day excursion down under, the royal duo unsurprisingly had a packed schedule. The parents-to-be efficiently immersed themselves in the Australian culture. However, during a certain food-related event, Markle refused to try a specific Australian delicacy.
“With the finger limes, they’re like little caviars,” Warr said. “When you eat it in your mouth it pops and the flavour is beautiful. It was optional if they wanted to taste it. Harry did but Meghan didn’t. She was smelling it, but that’s understandable because she’s pregnant and being cautious.”
Finger limes are pod-like citrus fruits filled with “pearls,” similar to pomegranate seeds. One can put these sweet and sour pearls atop seafood, sushi, salads, or pretty much any meal that could use an extra little zing.
Understandably, not knowing how she’d react to the foreign food, Markle turned down the finger limes, playing it safe for herself and the family’s future little prince.
“Harry tried some [of the ingredients] but he wasn’t game to try the pepper leaf, which is what we tend to give to the naughty kids anyway. It’s a little bit hot.”
Although finger limes weren’t the mom-to-be’s cup of tea right now, perhaps Markle will try them post-pregnancy. After all, they look pretty fun to eat.
