When it comes to food, Meghan Markle knows a thing or two. Not only can she create a delicious pasta sauce with pretty much one key ingredient, but she’s just like us with guilty pleasure snacks. Even though Markle is constantly under watch as one of the newest members of the royal family, her diet seems to be something she’s always had amazing (and realistic) control over. That said, there are some setbacks to being a duchess. For one, her biggest guilty pleasure has technically been banned by the Queen.
We’re talking about carbs, in all shapes and sizes. It turns out that the Queen tries to avoid them as often as she possibly can. That means, no spaghetti. Even worse, no french fries. Since Markle has said they’re one of her absolute favorites, that’s got to hurt.
Markle will probably fill the void with a bunch of other yummy selections. But, here’s the thing — she’s currently pregnant with her first child, who’s due in the spring. If you’ve ever been pregnant before, you know that there are already a lot of foods that are off-limits.
Here’s the good news: according to FoodBeast, the Queen is a bit more lenient during special occasions. And as you know, December is a wonderful month for parties and celebrations. So, it’s possible that she may let some potatoes and yummy starches through, especially if it’d mean a lot to Markle.
Still, the lack of fries still puts a big damper on everyone’s dream of gaining the duchess title someday. It’s a hard ask, but also very sweet of Meghan Markle to abide by it. It’s just one more way you can tell she’s got a ton of respect for the Queen.
