This Is The #1 City With The Best Food, Officially

number one city food

It looks like it’s time to book a trip to the West Coast. San Francisco, California is officially the #1 city in America with the best food, according to Yelp. By comparing ratings, reviews, photos, and cuisine diversity, Yelp researchers were able to bump San Francisco up to the top spot on their 2019 best foodie destinations list, the Daily Meal reports. It turns out that the West Coast actually is the best coast — for food, anyway.

Take, for instance, San Francisco’s four-and-a-half-star Liholiho Yacht Club. Liholiho specializes in Hawaiian cuisine and offers dishes like tuna poke served with sesame oil, radish, and nori cracker, and beef tongue served with kimchi, cucumber, and a poppyseed bun.

And Fog Harbor Fish House is a four-star seafood restaurant that serves an award-winning clam chowder, killer crab cakes, a shellfish platter, and giant lobster tails.

Furthermore, San Francisco has also snagged 13 spots on the Daily Meal’s 101 best restaurants in America list. A few eateries that made the grade are Gary Danko, Nopa, State Bird Provisions, and Coi.

Because San Francisco has such a wide variety of options when it comes to eating out, Yelpers — both locals and travelers — have dubbed it the best city to get your grub on in 2019.

And honestly, with San Fran restaurants posting food porn pics like these, we can see why.

Now THIS is how you serve clam chowder.

New England, take note.

Is this art or is this food?

It looks too beautiful to eat.

Guinea hen dumplings is our kind of comfort food.

We’ll take three servings, please.

Tony’s Pizza Napoletana, located in SF’s Little Italy serves major ‘za, calzones, and cannolis for dessert.

We call that the Italian Holy Trinity.

San Fran’s Angler is a four-star seafood spot that injects class into their food.

Just check out this Monterey Bay red abalone, served with an abalone liver and caper sauce.

And Benu, a highly-rated Asian Fusion restaurant in SF’s Financial District knows a thing or two about serving a stunning meal.

Just look at the colors in that veggie-stuffed mussel.

Coming in second on Yelp’s best foodie cities list for 2019 is St. Louis, Missouri.

The gaucho steak at Olive + Oak helped St. Louis become victorious.

As did the s’mores French toast at Half and Half. Um… wow.

Honolulu, Hawaii scored third on Yelp’s list thanks to all the fresh seafood and fruits served in locations like TsuruTonTan Udon Noodle Brasserie.

Fresh noodles are also a huge bonus.

Four-and-a-half-star spot Ka ’llkena, which is run by culinary students at Kapiolani Community College, draws in foodies from across the country.

Not too shabby for chefs-in-training.

Plano, Texas took fourth place on Yelp’s ranking.

Haunts like Sixty Vines, with its high-rated American cuisine, shot Plano to the top.

And the West Coast continued to reign supreme with San Diego, California ranking fifth, and Las Vegas, Nevada ranking sixth.

Richmond, Virginia followed, as did Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; Baltimore, Maryland; and Austin, Texas.

However, if you’re shaking your fist, angered that your city didn’t rank, don’t be too mad.

This is just one site’s list, and therefore just a single collection of opinions.

To get your hometown on next year’s Yelp best food cities list, encourage your friends to leave reviews of your favorite hot spots on the site.

Perhaps next year the tides will change.

But until next year’s list comes out, we’ve got a few flights to book. We’re hungry!
