If you’re ever in the mood for pie — but not a whole pie — McDonald’s is likely one of your best bets. Even though the Big Mac is their signature menu item, their apple pies come pretty close. That’s why it’s kind of insane to learn they’re changing up these treats.

Here’s the good news — all of the changes will be minor. If you frequently order apple pies from McDonald’s, the first thing you’ll notice is the change in appearance. According to Extra Crispy, the lattice-top design is going to look a little more genuine. So, it’ll resemble something more like what you’d bake for yourself at home. They’re also doing away with the cinnamon sprinkle. Disappointed? Don’t be. McDonald’s actually opted to include cinnamon inside the pie itself, which is a great change.

Speaking of pie filling, the apples are sourced directly from America. They’ll be sliced inside the pie, which is a great idea. With a move like that, McDonald’s will totally secure the #1 slot for best fast food pie.

Hopefully, fans will embrace the new changes. What’s better than a McDonald’s apple pie? A McDonald’s apple pie that offers up even more flavor.

Apple pies aren’t the only menu item that McDonald’s has tweaked recently. In a move to provide fresher ingredients, their quarter-pound patties now contain fresh beef (as opposed to frozen).

“Our new freshly baked apple pie recipe is in line with other positive changes we have made,” said McDonald’s spokesperson Tiffany Briggs in a statement, per Extra Crispy. “We removed, for example, artificial preservatives from our Chicken McNuggets and switched to real butter in our breakfast sandwiches because those changes matter to our guests.”

Who knew that McDonald’s would one day be the dinner choice you’d end up feeling just a little bit better about?
