Whether you’re using a mason jar as a water cup or in the centerpieces for your wedding, we can agree that these jars are versatile. While they look pretty attached to a string of lights, mason jars can be used for many different things. Here are 11 things that you probably didn’t know you could do with a good ole mason jar.
1. Blender Hack
All you have to do is unscrew the blade component of your blender and use it as the top of your mason jar and then use the blender as normal. You get the perfect amount and reduce what you have to clean.
2. Cupcake Liner Hack
For this hack, all you have to do is wrap a cupcake liner over the opening of your jar and then screw the lid back on, without the flat part. You’ll have a no-mess way of drinking. Just poke a straw through, we suggest a reusable straw too! Save the sea turtles!
3. Strainer Hack
It’s super annoying every time you’re drinking infused water and the fruits and veggies get in the way. To combat that use a strainer under your jar lid and you’ll be easy sipping.
4. Butter Hack
Trying to make your own butter? Add heavy cream, chives, salt, and garlic powder to a mason jar, close tightly and shake it like a polaroid. You’ll have a delicious spread in no time.
5. Dressing Dispenser
Tired of drenching your salad with processed store-bought dressing? If you add olive oil, vinegar of your choice, Dijon mustard, salt, and pepper into a mason jar and shake you’ll have a simple vinegarette. Add a pump and you’ll get easy pouring.
6. On-the-go Hack
Use a mason jar for on-the-go portability but filling the jar with one snack and then using an empty fruit cup to store another. Use the flat part of the lid to cover the fruit cup and flip it upside down onto the jar. Secure with the screw part of the lid and you have a convenient snack pack.
7. Egg Dicer Hack
Instead of wasting dishes, mix and present in the same jar. Use a mesh-like fabric over the opening of the jar and secure it with the lid. You’ll be able to dice an egg and conveniently make an egg salad.
8. Portion Control Hack
Take an old juice carton and cut out the pour lid to fit inside the lid of a mason jar. Fill your jar with snacks and secure your new lid. Easing pouring and control over how much you get.
9. Bird Feeder
A mason jar fits perfectly in a small chicken feeder. Fill your jar up with seeds, attach it to the feeder and then hang it up where you’d like. Now you have a cute rustic way to feed your neighbors.
10. Shaker Hack
Looking for a cute way to store salt and pepper? Use a small mason jar and poke holes through the flat part of the lid and you’ve got yourself a cute shaker.
11. No Bugs Hack
Use an old lid from a parmesan cheese shaker and use that as the lid for your jar. The small openings are perfect for a straw and the flip top keeps the bugs out!
