If you were born sometime in the early ’80s, you likely remember clear Crystal Pepsi. Not going to lie — it was pretty cool. But eventually, the novelty wore off, as it was only available in stores between 1992 and 1994. Clear soda was somewhat of a fad back then, but it doesn’t mean it won’t make a comeback in the future. If you’re tired of waiting, it’s actually fairly simple to make your own colorless soda at home — well, sort of.
Trust me, this one’s only good for science. Drinking this color-free concoction will likely land you in bed with a stomachache. That’s because the only thing you need to help remove the dark color from soda is milk. Weird, right?
It’s hard to even imagine how this was figured out, but it’s legit. While you can see something happening at the start of the milk and soda combination, you likely won’t be able to see the full transformation in mere minutes. It’ll take a few hours, at least, for the full separation to occur. Have no fear, though, this definitely isn’t how they made Crystal Pepsi.
Again, just another reminder not to drink it. After watching the videos, you likely won’t. Still, it needs to be said — milk, especially warm milk, isn’t a good mixer with soda.
Since this mix is inedible and a revival of Crystal Pepsi has yet to be announced, it looks like for now, your best bet for a clear beverage is probably Sprite.
