Trader Joe’s is a treasure trove of unique foods and interesting culinary combos — and somehow, without us even realizing, these curious products always make their way into our shopping carts. Huh. Unfortunately, that can add up, so it would be nice to know what we absolutely need to try before we buy.
Here at So Yummy, we’ve decided to rank all of Trader Joe’s frozen desserts. Why? So that you’ll never have to guess what’s good at Trader Joe’s. Now, you’ll know for sure which frozen desserts belong in your freezer (and in your heart). Now, you won’t have to waste money taste-testing everything yourself, and potentially wasting a product you’re really not into.
Then, we brought them into our office and invited everyone to give them a try, ranking them out of five. After everyone was done, we found the most popular rating for each product and arranged them in order from worst to best. What we ended up with is a list that any host will want for their next party — because our top picks are sure to please a hungry crowd.
Description: Rich coffee ice cream sandwiched between brownie crisps.
Note: Not a lot of people came to give this guy a try. Seems like coffee and brownie didn’t intrigue as many as we thought it would.
Description: A thin, buttery crust is baked with an almost-mouth-puckering lemon filling for a homemade tasting pastry.
Note: The people who loved these, loved them. As for the people who hated them, they really hated them. Though, most everyone agreed that these babies were tart AF.
Description: There’s no description on the packaging! It’s just a big cookie 🙂
Note: It isn’t as gooey as you’d expect, so you’d probably have to serve it with ice cream to make it moister. It also doesn’t really smell like a chocolate chip cookie, interestingly.
Description: No description! It’s all in the title, I guess.
Notes: The closer you get to the center, the better it tastes. Also, people who don’t traditionally like cheesecake really liked this pick.
Description: Mint-chip ice cream between chocolate wafers.
Note: While the ice cream was delightful, many felt that the cookies left something to be desired. Meh.
Description: A light, decadent tiramisu torte with a layer of sponge cake soaked in coffee, a rich mascarpone with chocolate bits, and topped with cocoa powder.
Note: Be careful of how long you leave this in the freezer/fridge, because it might melt faster than planned. However, this dessert was still a hit.
Description: Just right for an irresistibly delicious dessert platter for an afternoon tea or elegant holiday meal, this assortment of “A Dozen Sweet Bites” has something to please just about everyone: Four bites each of Chocolate & Coffee, Chocolate & Caramel, and Raspberry & Almond.
Note: Though there are three individual cake flavors here, we had everyone rate the sweet bites as a whole (since they come in one box). However, the standout flavor seemed to be Chocolate & Caramel.
Description: Vanilla ice cream sandwiched between chocolate chip cookies and rolled in mini cookie chips.
Note: These were either too sweet for some or just right for others. Ultimately, the crowd couldn’t resist these cookie creations.
Description: A delicate chocolate cake with a creamy chocolate center.
Notes: It’s so moist, it almost tastes like a cheesecake (that may be the case because we ate it straight out of the microwave).
Description: Ice cream bon bons with chocolate cookie crust.
Note: Everyone in our office was raving about these, and the cookie crust was a fan favorite all around. However, make sure to serve these with napkins because once they start to melt, they tend to explode upon first bite.
