Pretty much everyone has a lavish bucket list trip they’d like to take. It could be seeing the Eiffel Tower brilliantly lit up at night in Paris, taking in the grand Taj Mahal in India, or eating your way through the streets of Tokyo. But what if we told you that you could take all of your bucket list trips in one giant world tour? Yep, it’s possible, thanks to an upcoming Viking Ultimate World Cruise.
The 2019-20 Viking Ultimate World Cruise itinerary is a traveler’s dream come true. Over the course of 245 days, you’ll travel to 59 countries across six continents. If you want to do the math, 245 days is two-thirds of a year. Meaning, this is your chance to spend two-thirds of a year traveling non-stop. Along the way, you’ll see a mix of big cities and smaller, more off-the-beaten-path ports. Plus, you’ll learn a lot about the areas you’re visiting; the Viking Ultimate World Cruise itinerary includes 113 guided tours.
Speaking of, let’s talk itinerary specifics. Once aboard the Viking Sun in London, you’ll make your way to Norway, Iceland, and Greenland. Then, it’s off to North America with stops in Canada, Boston, and New York City.
From there, you’ll head down to the Caribbean, travel the coastline of South America, and head onto the South Pacific. After seeing the sights in New Zealand and Australia, you’ll head to Southeast Asia, India, and parts of Northern Africa. After stops in Spain and Portugal, you’ll land back in London. Phew.
“For more than 20 years we have been offering guests the most culturally immersive journeys available in the industry and we are pleased to announce the most extensive itinerary in our history,” Torstein Hagen, Chairman of Viking, said in a statement, Delish reports. “Our World Cruises offer guests the rare opportunity to unpack once and explore dozens of the best destinations on earth — at a value that is unprecedented in the travel industry.”

You might be thinking, I’m going to be on board a ship for, give or take, 245 days. Won’t I get sick of eating the same thing every night? But with eight different restaurants to choose from, you’ll never tire of the gourmet selection. For starters, the Pool Grill has burgers and Mamsen’s has Norwegian deli food. The Restaurant offers fine dining, the World Cafe offers international fare, The Kitchen Table offers regional dishes, and Manfredi’s has Italian. If you’re feeling fancy, the Chef’s Table offers multi-course tasting menus. In the afternoons, you can have tea at the Wintergarden. And if you don’t feel like leaving your room, there’s 24-hour room service that will deliver directly to your cabin. It’s basically like Seamless and Postmates on the high seas.
Unfortunately, it’s not cheap. Prices for the Viking Ultimate World Cruise start at $92,990. While that’s more money than many people make in a year, the high price tag does make sense. The Viking Ultimate World Cruise package includes amenities like Business Class airfare to get you to and from the cruise, free Wi-Fi, access to the fitness center, and more. Plus, depending on when you book, passengers may also receive a $4,000 shore excursions credit to use on shore excursions and tours, plus a $2,000 shipboard credit to use on spa services, beverages, and shopping. So the cruise isn’t cheap, but understandably so. It is the trip of a lifetime, after all.
