Mike Roman is seriously living the dream. The man has been eating pizza every day for 40 years. Roman recently went on his friend’s podcast, New Theory, to talk about his diet and how this ‘za obsession started. You might want to take notes because we really think Roman is onto something.
Eating pizza on the daily began when Roman was about 4 years old. He was a picky eater and his mother simply didn’t want to deal with his complaining, so she’d serve him pizza when he wouldn’t eat anything else. Now, at 41, Roman is still just as picky, and his cheese and dough diet has not wavered.
To be fair, pizza isn’t the only thing Roman eats. For lunch each day he has a peanut butter sandwich. And sometimes, if he’s feeling adventurous, he’ll eat peanut butter and ~crackers~ at midday. But no matter what, dinner always revolves around this one food.
Of course, when one has lived a life dedicated to the cheesy stuff, one has their preferences. Roman, a New Jersey native, says that New Jersey pies are just as good as those in N.Y.C. And he’s not one for toppings.

“I don’t have any toppings. Plain pizza, regular, thin crust, Margarita, Sicilian, grandma pie, old fashioned — anything that kind of resembles regular pizza,” Roman told the hosts of New Theory. And no, he won’t remove pepperoni from a cheese pizza. He simply won’t eat it.
Besides being in good shape for someone who relies on pizza and peanut butter for their daily nutrients, Roman’s only complaint is that his cholesterol spiked a few years back. But it’s since returned to normal and his recent physical in August showed that everything is working as it should — including his bowels, he noted.

As we reported back in August after a woman ate pizza every day for a week, a single slice of plain pizza has roughly 272 calories. Roman didn’t share how many slices he eats during one sitting. However, even if he eats just a single slice each day, he’s consuming about 99,300 calories from pizza each year — that means he’s consumed at least 4 million calories from pizza alone within his lifetime.
Of course, this number fluctuates depending on specific pizza ingredients, size, and the amount eaten. But regardless, Roman is munching on a lot of carbs, dairy, and straight-up grease every day. Sounds kind of gross, but still also kind of great…
Roman compares his love of pizza to a 60-year-long marriage. Why is it weird for him to still be in love with pizza after all these years when people are married to the same person for decades? Honestly, true. We think there’s bound to be some health snafus in Roman’s future due to his pizza consumption (and we hope he’s taking some nutritional supplements). But so far, he’s living his best life and hey, more power to him!
