You get to pick between a Quarter Pounder with Cheese or 10-piece Chicken McNuggets, and it comes with World Famous Fries, the new Mt. McDonaldland Shake, and one of six collectible tins. The shake has a bright blue base with pink whipped cream on top, so it looks as fun as it tastes. Each tin comes with stickers and postcards featuring classic characters, so there’s a surprise waiting inside along with your meal. Available nationwide starting August 12.

McDonald’s is teaming up with Pacsun for a McDonaldland collection that drops August 12. You’ll see graphic tees, sweat sets, hats, and accessories that bring the characters to life in a fresh way. You can grab them online or in Pacsun stores. There’s also a collab with Away starting August 18, where every in-store purchase comes with a free McDonaldland bag charm or luggage tag, so fans can carry a bit of nostalgia wherever they go.

The History of McDonaldLand

McDonaldland first appeared in 1971, bringing a colorful lineup of characters to life in commercials and in-store displays. Fans got to know Ronald McDonald, Grimace, Birdie, the Hamburglar, Mayor McCheese, the Fry Kids, and more. They showed up in Happy Meals, on merchandise, and inside restaurants, so they became part of the McDonald’s experience for years. By the early 2000s, the brand shifted its marketing approach and began phasing out the characters to reach a wider audience.

Facing Ongoing Sales Declines

McDonald’s saw same-store sales drop 3.6% in the first quarter of 2025, marking its biggest decline in nearly five years. Fewer customers have been visiting, and that dip in traffic has weighed on results. So bringing back McDonaldland could spark interest and get more people through the doors. The nostalgia factor, paired with limited-time offers, might give fans a reason to visit again and create a buzz that carries over into future promotions.

McDonald’s has leaned into nostalgia in recent years to connect with customers. In 2023, the Hamburglar returned for a burger campaign, and the Grimace Shake launch turned into a viral birthday celebration. The brand also brought back the Shamrock Shake in 2025, featuring O’Grimacey. So the new McDonaldland meal fits right into that approach. Limited-time offers paired with familiar characters can spark excitement, boost visits, and keep fans talking long after the promotion ends.

Grab the McDonaldland Meal Before It’s Gone

McDonald’s is bringing back the fun with a throwback that blends food, collectibles, and nostalgia. The McDonaldland meal, shake, and merchandise are only around for a limited time, so it’s worth making a stop before they disappear. Whether you’re reliving memories or trying it for the first time, it’s a chance to enjoy a little piece of McDonald’s history. Head to a participating location and see why everyone’s talking about it again.
