A lot of words come to mind when you think of coffee and coffee-based beverages. Refreshing, caffeinated, and necessary are some of the obvious ones. But thanks to Starbucks, “violet” might make that list as well, since locations in South Korea are experimenting with a latte that almost looks too pretty to drink.
It’s called a Violet Roasted Sweet Potato Latte, and it can be ordered either hot or cold (the latter in Frappuccino form). Regardless of how you order it, it’s sure to brighten up your Instagram account. And your life, really. It’s hard not to look at that hue and find yourself in an amazing mood. Even though it’s currently fall, it’s a good reminder of both spring and renewal.
Aside from the drink itself being violet, baristas in South Korea add even more to the beverage by adding whipped cream on top with some more purple flair. If you’re a fan of sweet potatoes, this might be worth hopping on a plane for.
As expected, those lucky enough to try it have already posted it all over Instagram. Even though Starbucks has thought up some truly innovative drinks in all of their locations, this one looks like it’s next-level.
If you thought that Starbucks already had a sweet potato drink, you wouldn’t be wrong. Just a few weeks back, Starbucks Japan announced that they’d be introducing the Crispy Sweet Potato Frappuccino and Crispy Sweet Potato Latte to their menu. While their drinks aren’t purple, they look pretty festive.
All of these sweet potato drinks are a big reminder that Thanksgiving is just around the corner — and maybe you should substitute those mashed potatoes for sweet potatoes to help liven things up this year!
