There’s something you should know about Taco Bell — they value friendship. They value it so much that they’ve created a Friendsgiving menu for the sixth consecutive year that’ll make you and your friends cheer. Well — maybe. While Taco Bell has literally never led their followers astray before, in terms of food, the menu this year seems a little out of the ballpark for America’s fave taco chain.
Before going into this year, it’s important to revisit what went down last year. Last year, the company surprised their fans by unveiling menu items like a Baja Blast Glazed Ham and Cool Ranch Doritos Locos Tacos Mashed Potatoes. Which… okay. While it’s always great to re-envision your holiday mashed potatoes, it also seems like it was created by employees who are adventurous at heart. According to Taco Bell, each year’s menu is concocted by their food innovations team, which sounds like the best job ever.
Still, this year isn’t as wild. Instead, it’s — dare I say — fancy. Their big dish, which they’ll be serving at their own dinner over at Taco Bell Headquarters, is called Fire Tortilla Chip Crusted Chicken.
As per usual, the recipe is on their website, so you can make it home for your best buddies.
Other dishes this year include Roasted Potatoes with Chipotle Crema and Diablo Caviar. Bet you never thought Taco Bell would be linked to caviar in any way, right? Since they like to live más, I suppose it does make a little bit of sense. The company is also offering up root vegetable purees this year that are flavored with their own brand of hot sauces.
Even if you think that Taco Bell would be better off just serving taco supremes, you have to admire the chain for taking an important holiday and making it their own. Especially since tacos (and caviar, I guess) are best enjoyed with a friend.
