Ariana Grande’s Accidental Food Tattoo Started An Awkward Trend

Ariana grande new tattoo

Sorry, but we just can’t stop laughing about Ariana Grande’s hilarious food tattoo fail. Last week, the “Thank U, Next” singer attempted to get a tattoo in kanji that was supposed to read, “7 Rings” — the title of her latest single. However, the tattoo unfortunately didn’t say that. It sadly translated to “Japanese BBQ grill.” And despite her effort trying to fix it, the tattoo still doesn’t say “7 Rings,” and probably never will. It now reads, “Japanese BBQ finger.”

The internet can’t get enough of Grande’s botched tat, and everyone is now posting their own renditions on Twitter.

“Slightly better,” Grande wrote over a photo of her “fixed” tat, which she posted to her Instagram Story on January 31st. “Thanks to my tutor for helping me fix and to @kanenavasard for being a legend. and to my doctor for the lidocaine shots (no joke). rip tiny charcoal grill. miss u man. i actually really liked u.”

The sad part is that Grande probably should have kept her tattoo the way it was. Sure, it was a silly mistake that could have easily been avoided — “7 Rings” was written correctly in kanji in her own music video. But that extra character pushed her farther down the rabbit hole. And the people of Twitter are not lending her a helping hand.

Because we’re all a little too busy laughing with her. Note the “with.”

Many of us just want to be a part of the BBQ grill club. We stand in solidarity.

We wanted it, we got it. Right, Ari?

Although, some club members decided to get their tats in their own language. You know, in order to avoid a translation snafu.

Some of us have decided to pay tribute to our other favorite kitchen utensils and tools. Love the font of this tat.

Where would we be as a society without our George Foremans? Uh, nowhere!

Aww — this subtle and cute “rice cooker” tat is just as sweet as Ari’s BBQ grill tat. Love that cursive.

Native Japanese speakers are also weighing in, sporting a similar ~aesthetic~ to Grande’s latest ink. This one reads, “chinko,” which is a slang word for penis.

Ahem… this one is also a slang word for penis. This tattoo reads, “Ochinchin.”

And this tattoo does not read “samurai”  (侍). It instead reads, “ji” or “hemorrhoids.”

The kanji characters in this tattoo mean “lucky” and “wild” when separated. However, when together, they read “Yoshinoya,” which is the name of a Japanese fast food chain.

These fake tattoos are a hilarious reminder that another language should not be an aesthetic. Because chances are, you’re going to look silly if it ends up being spelled wrong.

We only laugh because we know Grande doesn’t take herself too seriously. In fact, she recently posted a snapshot of her “7 Rings” co-producer’s hand to her Instagram Story. It looks like he got the same “lil grill” tattoo.

Can we expect a new single called “lil grill” in the future? We wouldn’t put it past her.

Okay, okay. We’re almost done laughing. It’s just too funny.
