YouTuber Safiya Nygaard Made A Cake With Lipstick — The Photos Are Pleasantly Surprising

We’ve seen some pretty whacky cakes in our day, but this is definitely a first. YouTube’s Safiya Nygaard baked her lipsticks into a cake — and honestly, it looks pretty dang beautiful.

Nygaard, a self-proclaimed “lipstick fiend,” set out to make a lipstick Funfetti cake using Amuse Bouche Lipsticks from Bite Beauty. One of Nygaard’s Twitter followers suggested using the Bite lipsticks because they’re made with “natural and organic,” “food-grade” ingredients. For the most part, each lipstick is made with mostly oils, wax, and of course, tint.

It should be noted that Nygaard noticed that some Amuse Bouche Lipsticks were specifically labelled “food-safe,” whereas others were not. So, she decided to only use those shades that are technically cool to eat.

“I feel like now is the time to tell you to not try this at home,” Nygaard said after explaining her plan. “The lipsticks are technically safe to eat, as in they shouldn’t send you to the hospital. But they’re not meant to be eaten as a snack.” She added that although the vast majority of her viewers are over 18 and can therefore decide “what to do with your lipstick and your bowels,” Nygaard suggested, “don’t eat lipstick” and “don’t bake it in a cake.”

Fair enough.

Nygaard selected 14 Bite lipsticks to bake into her Funfetti concoction. They’re all lovely shades of pink, purple, and red.

She then decided to start chopping to create the “sprinkles” for her Funfetti cake, finding that the process was easier if the lipsticks were first chilled in the freezer. Ouch — with each lipstick costing $26, this honestly hurts our wallets to watch.

Next, Nygaard mixed up her cake batter. She then gently folded in her bits of lipstick.

After hanging out in the oven for a bit, and Nygaard fearing they may look like blood cakes if the lipstick ends up melting too much, it was time to see if the Funfetti cakes were looking fun. And yeah, they were!

Nygaard decided to only frost between the layers of the cake, rather than cover up the Funfetti. She also mixed up a pinky-purple frosting color to add some pretty rosettes on the top.

And, wow. We’re honestly ~so~ impressed with the final result.

Nygaard joked with her boyfriend that this is going to be their wedding cake. TBH, we wouldn’t be mad at that in the slightest.

When Nygaard took her masterpiece to social media, people had some serious questions. It is a lipstick cake, after all.

She made it. She ate it. She conquered lipstick cake.

And yes, the Bite lipsticks are still usable whilst lodged in the cake. Bizarre, but true.

Yet, some people were still not impressed. Rude.

Perhaps they don’t know good content when they see it. Or maybe they’re just afraid of the unknown.

Like Nygaard said, this is probably something that we shouldn’t try ourselves.

But that cake is honestly too pretty not to want. *Logs onto Sephora and blows through savings on lipstick cake ingredients*
