Sophie Turner Told Husband Joe Jonas What REALLY Happened With That “Game of Thrones” Starbucks Cup

The show may be officially over, but the mystery still stands: Who was behind the infamous Game of Thrones coffee cup cameo? If you’ve somehow missed the most epic film flub of the decade, a coffee cup appeared in the final cut of a scene starring Emilia Clarke’s Daenerys Targaryen during Episode 4 in Season 8. Fingers have been pointed at many potential suspects, with the number one being Sophie Turner (aka Sansa Stark, who never liked Daenerys to begin with). But now a new suspect has been named — Turner’s husband Joe Jonas, the unofficial King in the North.

Joe and his brothers Kevin and Nick Jonas appeared on the May 30th episode of Complex’s YouTube series Hot Ones, during which they chowed down on hot wings and answered some of the internet’s most burning questions. Host Sean Evans approached the coffee cup scandal bluntly, because heck! We need answers, people!

During the “fact, fiction, or more to the story” segment, Evans got down to business. “[Fact or fiction]: Joe Jonas was responsible for the errant Starbucks cup that snuck into Westeros in that recent episode of Game of Thrones.”

He laughed. “I wish it was me,” Joe responded (nervously, if you ask us).

“I asked Sophie, my lady, about that,” Joe continued. “I was like, ‘So, did you guys do that on purpose?’ Because I know there was a pickup truck in the last season in one of the fight scenes — in the very back there was, like, a white pickup truck. ‘Did you start doing that to mess with the fans?’ And she was like, ‘No, they are literally so meticulous about everything.'”

“But I kind of wish they just left it in,” Joe said, referring to the fact that HBO digitally removed the cup after being bashed on Twitter. “Maybe it should just be an Easter egg in every scene now.”

“That would be amazing if it was though,” Nick joked. “That would have been so incredible if you basically fucked something up in Game of Thrones.

It would have been an unexpected twist in this saga, for sure. No one would ever suspect a JoBro.

Literally us if we found out Joe Jonas was behind the coffee cup scheme. We’re still not convinced he’s not.

The main reason why Sophie Turner was blamed in the first place is because a circulating behind-the-scenes picture from Season 8 showed Turner, in costume, holding an identical coffee cup to that in the famous scene. It’s damning evidence.

Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon tried to broach the topic with Turner when she appeared on the show earlier this month. He did so via “fan-submitted” video, which turned out to be a clip of Joe Jonas asking if she was responsible.

Turner was not happy. “Okay, let’s clear this up,” she demanded. “For all of you guys that watch Game of Thrones, this girl dies,” she said pointing to Lyanna Mormont, played by Bella Ramsey, in the photo. “And this is a scene from the episode after she dies,” she said pointing at the coffee cup scene.

“I mean look who it’s placed in front of,” she said, placing the blame on costar Emilia Clarke.

Honestly, we don’t want to cross either of these women. So… we might just stay out of it altogether.

But what’s really interesting is the fact that Joe Jonas is wearing the same shirt in his “fan-submitted” Tonight Show video that he wore on his episode of Hot Ones. We’re not sure what the conspiracy is yet, but we know there’s something fishy going on.

We can’t quite shake this feeling that these two were somehow coconspirators. But without any hard evidence, we’re going to have to sit down and shut up.

If everyone refuses to fess up to this mess, we suppose there’s nothing left to do but wait until guilt consumes them and makes them finally spew. Sorry — are we playing bad cop, or are you?

Fine, Joe. Neither you nor Sophie “did it.” But we’re onto you, so don’t think you’re getting away with anything just yet.

We’ll get to the bottom of the Game of Thrones coffee cup mystery if it’s the last thing we do.
