Starbucks’s New Pink Flamingo Frappuccino Is Basically A Strawberry And Cookie Dessert
We have yet to meet a Starbucks drink we haven’t liked — and yes, that includes the strange-but-true Witch’s Brew from October 2018. However, we may have just met our match. According to Popsugar, Starbucks locations in Latin America are introducing a Pink Flamingo Frappuccino that combines two surprising flavors. It’s half fruity strawberry, half chocolate cookie crumble, and we’re not sure if this is a mashup we can get on board with.
“Starbucks customers across Colombia, Chile, Peru, Bolivia and Central America can enjoy the new Pink Flamingo Frappuccino, available April 10th – April 14th for a limited-time while supplies last,” Starbucks explained, per Bustle. “This delicious blended beverage features a majestic pink hue, strawberry flavor, and is topped with whipped cream and cookie pieces.”
The Pink Flamingo Frappuccino may sound familiar to those who visited Disney Springs in 2017. Two years ago, the Florida shopping complex was exclusively graced with the pink-hued Starbucks drink. Back then, the Pink Flamingo Frapp was concocted with a White Mocha Frappuccino base, raspberry and strawberry pieces, and a purple whipped cream and pink sugar topping.
But now, Latin America is getting more bang for their buck with cookie crumbles atop their Pink Flamingo Frappuccinos. Here’s what it looked like in 2017:

And here’s the updated 2019 version. Similar, yet definitely not the same flavor.

We suppose Starbucks Latin America is going for a cookies and cream theme with the new Pink Flamingo Frapp. But chocolate cookie crumbles with strawberry syrup? Hm…

It looks as if we’re not the only ones questioning the new rendition of the drink. However, we and this Twitter user are on different pages when it comes to our reasoning.

“Naming snacks after animals” is a problem if the snack doesn’t contain the animal, this person explains. “Zebra cakes, Beaver tails, all that sits wrong with me. It’s gotta contain the animal. E.g. chicken being called chicken is fine.” We’re lol-ing.

We realize we shouldn’t knock the Pink Flamingo Frappuccino until we try it. We do love chocolate-covered strawberries, after all.

But there hasn’t been any hint that the Pink Flamingo Frappuccino is returning to North American locations any time soon. It looks like we’ll just have to build our own, Frankenstein-style.

A similar recipe to that of the Pink Flamingo Frappuccino is the Pink Raspberry Passion from the Starbucks Secret Menu, which is tea-based rather than coffee-based. It’s lighter than the Pink Flamingo, yet still has that fruity flavor and Frappuccino consistency.

Or, try the Barbie Pink Frappuccino, made with toffee nut syrup, raspberry syrup, and a creme base. It’s super pink and the toffee gives it that cookies and cream flavor.

Of course, you can always order the classic Pink Drink from the Starbucks Secret Menu. It’s a Strawberry Acai Refresher made with coconut milk and topped with a scoop of strawberries.

Trust us. The Pink Drink is where it’s at.

We love it. You’ll love it. Our dogs love it.

Oh. And makeup god James Charles loves the Pink Drink, too.

So, no. We may not be able to get our hands on a Pink Flamingo Frappuccino unless we hightail it to Colombia before April 14th.

But we are able to order a dupe and pretend as though we’re sipping on that Pink Flamingo goodness. (Just maybe without the chocolate cookie crumbles.)

Maybe it’s just us, but we prefer our cookies on the side of our fruity Frappuccinos. Sorry not sorry.
