Burger King Is Releasing A Whopper Donut For Donut Day, And We Did Not Ask For This

June 1st is National Donut Day, so if you didn’t plan on stopping to get donuts for the office, maybe reroute your schedule. Donuts for everyone! With this Very Important Holiday happening on Friday, everyone is preparing for the big day. Even Burger King — who, to my knowledge, doesn’t even sell donuts — is releasing a new item this Friday to celebrate.

Burger King is introducing the “Whopper Donut” and we’re not sure how to feel about this. Are they really talking about taking a Whopper and adding some glazed buns to it? Actually no — although maybe a glazed donut burger would be weirdly delicious. What Burger King is doing is just cutting out a hole in their burger so that the burger looks like a donut.

Stay in your seats, folks, because this is not your traditional donut.

And don’t worry about losing that extra middle piece, it will still be there, but on the side now and it’ll be called a mini slider! So, it will resemble a doughie. I can work with that, but do we really need that? The company says, “Some of you might say it’s just a WHOPPER® sandwich with a hole cut in it, and you might be right,” the company said. “But, hey. If it has a donut hole in it, it’s a donut.” The Whopper Donut is both brilliant and also confusing. I love it.

Unfortunately (or fortunately), if you want the hole-y burger, you can only grab one in select restaurants in Boston, Miami Beach, Los Angeles, New York City, or Salt Lake City. Here are the exact locations:

2450 S 1900 W, Salt Lake City, Utah

If you’re not “lucky” enough to visit one of these restaurants, may I suggest some fancy schmancy Krispy Kreme creations or even some summery adult donut pools to help celebrate National Donut Day?

Or you can just sit back and relax while watching the fascinating journey our galaxy donuts go through.

Happy Donut Day, friends!
