One of the greatest things about beauty is the fact that so many fun products can be whipped up right in your kitchen. When I was younger, I always thought the epitome of beauty was putting cucumber slices over your eyes. Because, back in the ’90s, that’s how “relaxation” was done. Another fun nostalgic food and beauty tip? Supposedly, lemon juice would help lighten your hair in the summer.
But, Bella Thorne has a more adult way to achieve that particular goal.
Thorne is an actress, known best for roles like Teenie in Big Love and CeCe in the Disney Channel television show Shake It Up. So, she’s been in front of the camera quite a lot. That means that she’d probably be more cautious than most when it comes to hair care.
Thorne isn’t in a career where she can afford to have a poorly done bleach job.
In order to freshen up her locks, she actually uses beer. Yep — beer. The 21-year-old proved this point by posting a pool party video, in which a friend just openly dumped a full cup on her hair.
Providing some commentary, she says this would be a great way to gain an endorsement deal with Corona.
“For everyone harassing yes it’s beer. It naturally lightens ur hair and people say it’s good for u,” Thorne wrote.
Pouring beer in your hair apparently makes it more golden and luscious. Makes sense, cause I feel like it does the same thing to my insides

Thorne said that she was attempting to lighten it with the beverage based on an upcoming film role. So pretty soon, all of us will be able to see if this trick actually works.
'Fun Fact' - The malt and hops found in beer are full of protein that can nourish and strengthen your hair. Although, why would you want to waste good beer by pouring on your hair? #witneybeerfest 🍻 pic.twitter.com/2JUUwbMpDm

“My next film my hair has to be hunny blonde, saving me a trip to the salon 💇,” Thorne said.
She also pushed her new book, which reportedly has similar tips and tricks.
Now, there are a ton of pros and cons regarding this treatment. One pro is that if you’re over 21, beer is fairly easy and inexpensive to get.
Especially in comparison to some of the more luxurious hair products on the market these days. Listen, I love my hair, but I’m in no place to drop cash on pricey treatments.
Hair care is so expensive!!

Organic Authority claims that beer can definitely strengthen your locks and give them extra shine, which means it’s also ideal if you’re feeling like your strands are a bit dull.
That’s because there’s protein in hops, which is essential in brewing beer.
But now, the bad news. Because there’s always bad news.
“@rolla_J4: I'm pretty sure pouring beer in my hair worked cuz it looks blonder” pic.twitter.com/b1VzYIZ19C

You might not want to smell like a brewery if you perform this treatment before work.
Beer has a distinct smell, so if you’re on your way to something important, you might want to hold off and wait until the weekend.
Has anyone ever tried any of these hair remedies? I don't know about pouring beer in my hair! http://t.co/Drzs5Bv

It may also be hard to convince people you did it on purpose. Because it sounds a little wild.
Thought I must have put a lot of gel in my hair last night cause its sticky as fuck.. Then I remebered I was pouring beer all over myself

Plus, some beer is expensive. So if your friends came over to hang and brought some imports that were meant to be enjoyed, you may want to ask before making it a beauty project.
Still, it’s worth it to try at home if you’re curious.
Even Dr. Oz thinks that a weekly beer conditioning may make a huge difference in how your hair looks.
If you’re still a little hesitant to pour a full beer on your hair, don’t worry. There are also plenty of products out there that you can still try.
Lauren Conrad also suggests trying the beer method for lightening hair, although she admits she hasn’t tried it herself.
“I have several friends who have experimented with beer hair rinses at one time or another, and raved about its lightening properties,” she wrote on her blog.
Two other suggestions Conrad offered up were chamomile tea and honey. It might be pretty relaxing to soak in some chamomile while sipping it as well.
Even though Thorne’s suggestion got a lot of raves and has a lot of people backing it, some fans still thought it was a little weird. Who even figured out this hair hack to begin with?
No matter where it started, people are thanking Thorne for unleashing the tip. She might have actually changed the hair game for plenty of her fans.
So next time someone offers you a beer at a party and you’re not really into drinking, just know there’s a completely different use for it that might end up benefiting your beauty routine.
