Lea Michele’s Wedding Cake Is Actually Pretty Boring

Congratulations to Lea Michele! The actress best known for hit shows like Glee and Scream Queens got married to Zandy Reich. Reich and Michele have known each other for years as friends, but got engaged just after a year of dating.

Because when you know, you know.

Marie Claire reports that Reich is the president of a clothing company called AYR, which stands for All Year Round. His relationship with Lea, in general, has been somewhat quiet, especially since Reich isn’t too fond of social media.

The wedding took place on March 9th, and according to People, they had a white wedding cake that they cut into while Barbra Streisand’s hit song “Happy Days Are Here Again” played in the background.

And while that’s very romantic, it’s kind of interesting that the cake-cutting song would be more monumental than the cake itself.

All cake is good cake, but for some reason, fans expected just a little more from Michele’s wedding cake. It was beautiful, but almost included no decor. Two flowers appear on the second level of the two-tier cake, but that’s about it.

The cake probably tasted delicious, but it’s interesting that it’s a detail that almost seemed like an afterthought.

You can see the cake, among other details, in this video provided by People.

White was definitely Michele’s overall color.

The cake is definitely classy and romantic. It seems like that’s the overall vibe she was going for.

But, one color did change up Michele’s scheme. And that color? Red.

Red wine was reportedly a staple drink.

“I wanted it to feel like we were in Italy,” Michele said to People.

“That’s where my family’s from, the food that I grew up eating, and so I wanted to have a Tuscany-Italian vibe, with family-style pasta, big, long, family tables, lots of red wine — an elegant night in Italy.”

You’ve got to appreciate a girl who serves up a ton of wine and pasta. It sounds like her guests had a blast.

So, maybe there just wasn’t enough room for the cake. It’s not like she didn’t feed her guests.

But based on Michele’s Twitter account, it seems like she’s more of a cake fan than her wedding cake would lead you to believe.

Here she is in 2017 celebrating her birthday with a cake from her coworkers:

And she did the same thing in 2014. Looks like her cake was of the chocolate variety that year.

She even profiled other on-set birthday cakes. Here’s one for Glee castmate Naya Rivera from 2012.

And here’s yet another photo of Michele standing next to a congratulatory cake.

Note: These pictures really weren’t that hard to find, since our girl seems to dig a good cake.

Fans even noticed the fact that a lot of Lea Michele cake pictures exist on the internet.

It makes you wonder whether or not it’s normal. (It probably is. I mean, cake is great.)

But, it’s not even the cake itself. Michele has (reportedly) used cake to help define wonderful situations before.

"Playing Rachel Berry everyday is like eating a piece of delicious chocolate cake."

That quote itself doesn’t necessarily have a source, but hey. It’s harmless.

And another reason to believe that Lea Michele is into cake.

But cake aside, her wedding did seem gorgeous. Even better, she got to marry someone she truly loves.

Curious about that Italian dinner? You should be.

People reported that Michele’s guests dined on wild arugula salad, penne pasta with meatballs made in-house, and a main course selection of roasted organic chicken breast, Skuna Bay salmon, or a garden vegetable ratatouille.

If Michele actually had time to sit down and eat food (which many brides don’t), it’s a safe bet we went with the ratatouille. In 2017, she said she keeps a completely vegan household.

Hopefully, these two newlyweds will embark on a honeymoon that’s filled with a whole lot of cake on the menu.

We support it.
