When they’re not saving the world with their barrage of bonkers superpowers, the cast of X-Men: Dark Phoenix likes to blow off some steam with a drinking game. While visiting Conan on June 5th, Sophie Turner, who plays Jean Grey (AKA Phoenix), ran through the rules of their favorite game, which oddly involves a bit of violence.
“We played this brilliant game called ‘Tequila Slaps,'” Turner told Conan. When she asked if anyone in the audience had ever heard of it, and no one responded, Turner assumed, “It must be an X-Men thing.” Sure.
Picture this: Sophie Turner, Jennifer Lawrence, James McAvoy, Evan Peters, Michael Fassbender, Nicholas Hoult, Tye Sheridan, Jessica Chastain, and others are hanging out after a long day of shooting Dark Phoenix. Two of them decide to engage in a round of Tequila Slaps, so they stand face-to-face. One of them takes a shot and the other person tries to slap their opponent in the face before they have a chance to swallow the shot.
Incredible.
Turner removed her ring and challenged Conan to a round. She came prepared with her own tequila and shot glasses, like a true Tequila Slaps champion. Conan sheepishly agreed, took a shot and —

“We go really, really hard with each other,” Turner said when Conan asked if she had ever slapped anyone else that hard before. And yes, she gives her male friends permission to slap her.
Just imagine these people playing that game. We’re dying.

Lesson learned. One must be brave to face off against Turner in a round of Tequila Slaps.
Adding play Tequila slaps with @SophieT to my bucket list.... #Conan

You can check out the Turner vs. O’Brien Tequila Slaps challenge below. We can feel Conan’s pain from here.

Obviously, if you choose to play this game with your own cast of friends, make sure you’re not *actually* hurting each other. Turner told Conan that she was actually slapped too hard once and had a purple hand print left on her face. Ouch!
And also, drink responsibly. Otherwise, you’ll end up looking like this:
You’ll also probably start snoozing more than is acceptable. Oopsie.
No offense, Sophie. We love you.
If slapping your friends in the face isn’t for you, perhaps you’d be more interested in trying another Sophie Turner-related drinking game. Kristen has a great one for all of you people who look like Sansa Stark:
fun drinking game :

take a shot everytime someone tells me i look like sophie turner from game of thrones
Or why not chug your glass of wine à la Sophie Turner every time you make it onto the Jumbotron. Iconic AF.

We’d definitely say take a drink every time Sophie Turner is hilarious in an interview. But um… we don’t want to kill you.
If you have a thick enough skin to try Tequila Slaps, let us know how it goes. We’re honestly a bit too timid to give it a go after seeing Conan get walloped like that.
It’s comforting to know that our X-Men have it in them to take a couple slaps to the face here and there. That is comforting, right? Right?
