Lil Xan Ended Up In The Hospital… Because Of Hot Cheetos

flamin' hot cheetos

We all know that Flamin’ Hot Cheetos are “dangerously cheesy.” But we didn’t actually think they were dangerous enough to land someone in the hospital. According to a recent Instagram post, Lil Xan found out that Flamin’ Hot Cheetos are not a snack to be trifled with. He ended up the hospital yesterday, September 25th, after the Cheetos “ripped something in [his] stomach open.” Um — ouch.

“Yeah, I went to the hospital today,” Lil Xan said in an Instagram video after posting a photo to his story showing himself in an ambulance. “I just want to let everyone know I was in the hospital not due to any drugs, but I guess I ate too many Hot Cheetos, and it ripped something in my stomach open.”

He wrote in his caption, “I’m good, healthier then I’ve ever been and ready to kick of my third Tour in NY ina couple days ! Also be careful,Hot Cheetos are one hell of a drug aha!”

Flamin’ Hot Cheetos have been the root of many medical scares throughout the past decade. In 2012, CBS News reported that several school districts across the country banned the super spicy snack after studies emerged showing that people display similar brain activity after eating Flamin’ Hot Cheetos when compared to those who have taken certain addictive drugs.

Furthermore, the hot junk food can cause an inflamed stomach lining, which leads to upper abdominal and chest pain, and that may be what Lil Xan was experiencing. Eating such spicy foods on a regular basis can also cause “ulcerations, erosions and…peptic ulcer disease” later down the line, according to Dr. Martha Rivera of White Memorial Medical Center in Los Angeles, via Jezebel in 2013.

Listen, even though Flamin’ Hot Cheetos can cause some serious issues, we’re just glad that it was Cheetos that sent Lil Xan to the hospital and not something more serious.

Luckily, Lil Xan is well enough to begin his third tour and you can catch him at New York City’s Irving Plaza tonight, September 26th. Take our advice, Xan — do yourself and the rest of us a favor and stick to regular Cheetos from now on.
