M&M’s New Flavor Sounds Like A Bite-Sized Bake Sale

When there’s a new candy or strange fast food product out there, I have to try it. Usually, it’s a strange concoction that ends up falling into the “so weird and strange that it’s actually good” category (like, say, KFC’s weird new Cheetos nuggets). But for M&M’s latest offering? It sounds like it’s more in the “why didn’t they make this before?” category.

M&Ms have been quite adventurous recently. Remember back in the day, when Crunchy and Pretzel seemed to be two daringly delicious flavors? Just this year alone, they’ve introduced Thai Coconut Peanut, Mexican Jalapeno Peanut, and English Toffee Peanut. Most of those seem like they’re mission in life is to set your mouth on fire. This new flavor just sounds ten times better.

In fact, if you’ve been aching to join the PTA, this flavor will be up your alley. It’s called Fudge Brownie, and even though I have yet to taste them, I trust M&Ms with all things chocolate.

The only way they could make these better is if they packaged up Fudge Brownie M&Ms and Fudge Brownie Edges M&Ms. Yes, there is a taste and texture difference between the two. Give me a brownie edge any day.

The Fudge Brownie M&M news was initially teased by a new Instagram account called JunkFoodLeaks. Just the fact that an Instagram account like that exists is incredible — especially if you’re antsy about the snacks of the future.

The account just launched, and even though it’s unclear who’s behind it, they seem to be legit. And, obviously, passionate about junk food.

“I happen to have the privilege of sourcing new and unreleased samples of junk before they become available to the general public,” they wrote in their first post. “Of course, I will always strive to provide reviews and information as best as possible, and as I am allowed to.”

But, enough about that. What did they think about the M&Ms?

“These M&M’s are larger in size, and resemble that of a peanut m&m, just rounder,” JunkFoodLeaks wrote. “The immediate in-mouth taste is certainly a normal m&m, but allowing them to melt a bit and moving them around in your mouth is the key to the experience.”

According to the second photo on Instagram, they seem to be orange in color. That’s an odd move for the company, who can literally create any color imaginable.

Perhaps they’re orange-based on the release date. JunkFoodLeaks wrote that they’ll likely be available “this fall or sooner.”

If so, that’d be amazing planning on M&M’s behalf. When you think of yummy baked goods and bake sales, you think of fall.

Obviously, brownies can be enjoyed any time of year. But there’s something about a warm brownie and the crisp fall air that makes the experience one of a kind.

The leak reportedly caused M&Ms to release the image of their new product early. That means that yes, this is official and the JunkFoodLeaks account is legit.

So, what’s the crowd’s response? Pretty favorable, I’d say.

The bad news? You’ll be making continuous trips to the grocery store, anxiously awaiting their arrival.

It’s also not clear if these Fudge Brownie M&Ms will be available everywhere. Sometimes, the famous candy brand makes limited-edition flavors just for stores like Target or Walmart.

Now that Chocolate Brownie M&Ms are becoming a reality, it’s hard to figure out what direction they’ll go in next.

If they continue with the bake sale theme, they can always try partnering with Rice Krispies. Can you imagine if M&Ms managed to contain a bit of the world’s favorite treat inside?

The best news is that even if they make a flavor that totally flops (yes, I’ve already thought up 90 reasons why my Rice Krispies M&Ms wouldn’t work), Peanut Butter M&Ms still exist. They’re the champion flavor people don’t talk about as much. But, the chances that Fudge Brownie will flop? Slim to none.
