Believe it or not, Chipotle has a secret menu. And if you were bold enough to order from it, you’d be enjoying some pretty delicious off-menu lunch options. Based on popular demand, Chipotle may actually be bringing one of these items to the menu for good, which is great for those too timid to ask (like, uh, myself). The company is testing out quesadillas, and it’s pretty obvious that it’ll work out for them.
New to the quesadilla? It’s a simple menu item. Usually, it consists of two tortillas cooked together with cheese on the inside. But fans have realized that adding protein in-between makes it a more filling meal — and Chipotle is reportedly offering quite the variety. According to reporters over at Foodbeast, who went to the location in question and tried them out, fillings range from their yummy barbacoa to steak. So, they’re aiming to be pretty customizable.
Their packaging is also pretty impressive for on-the-go Chipotle customers. Foodbeast posted a photo of what you could get, and it looks like each container includes room for rice, beans, and a salsa option. In other words, this may be the perfect, protein-filled lunch option for you.
Pretty delicious, right?
The team over at FoodBeast found the item being tested in locations in Orange County, California. So if you’re a west-coaster, you might want to make a drive over and sample it for yourself.
Hopefully, fans who managed to ask for a quesadilla earlier won’t mind the fact that the packaging has changed a bit. It’s likely that with a little bit of added research, Chipotle took the secret favorite and made it even better — and more universal in its preparation.
Delish reports that the quesadilla is also being tested in New York City, so for those of you in the area, you might want to keep an eye out. Even before the news, people couldn’t stop talking about them.
It’s 1am and all I can think about is the chicken quesadilla from chipotle //:

For others, it may be the one product that’ll cause them to keep giving Chipotle a shot. As you probably know, the company has gotten into a lot of hot water based on health scares in the past.
Not a fan of chipotle but this quesadilla hitting

As the quesadilla has sparked friendships, who knows what may happen if it becomes a popular menu item. Maybe the world would be a kinder place.
Unlike, say, a burrito bowl, a quesadilla is much easier to share with a friend. So if you happen to grab one, you might want to let people know where you’re at.
At chipotle by myself in a booth about to devour a quesaDILLA with guacamole. Hope y’all enjoying y’all day

Chipotle’s CEO Brian Niccol told Business Insider that the quesadilla was the most-requested item from customers. If they already had the ingredients in-stock, it’d probably be a bit foolish not to offer it as a regular item, right?
RT if you, too, wish @ChipotleTweets would add quesadillas to mobile ordering in app & online. The employees legit thought "2 ck quesad" (bowl name) was my kid's nickname. 🙋♀️🌮🌯 #chipotle #firstworldproblems #peoplegivemedirtylooksforskippingtheline

But again, nobody knows for sure what’ll happen after the item is tested out. Maybe it’ll go nationwide, or maybe it’ll be shelved for a bit. That’s one of the reasons why you should get it while you can if you live near a test area. Who knows when the quesadilla, in this form, will disappear?
Our quesadilla's aren't an official menu item as of now. You'll have to visit your local Chipotle to satisfy all of your quesadilla cravings. -Ty

If they do stay, they’ll be just one of the changes Chipotle is hoping to make in the new year. Nachos and milkshakes are also reportedly being tested. You might not have thought that burritos and milkshakes would be a good combo, but hey — you never know.
I need chipotle and a milkshake from five guys

I just left the gym and went straight to sheetz for a milkshake and then chipotle for a burrito 🤗

Chipotle also recently pulled a McDonald’s and tested out bacon last August. It was only available in New York, but looks like it’d be worth the travel.
No matter what, hopefully Chipotle wins back their audience. They have good food, and fresh ingredients — and they’re incredibly addictive. But in this day and age, it’s all about staying healthy and making sure those fresh ingredients don’t contain any harmful bacteria.
Fingers crossed that the quesadillas prove to be a hit, and that everyone can get their hands on one. For now, you might just want to whisper your order to the employees and hope they can make magic happen.
