Taco Bell’s New “Slide-Thru” Sounds Like A Hospital Visit Waiting To Happen

Taco Bell slide-thru

Think about all of the things that can be improved by eating tacos (or even just by ordering literally anything at Taco Bell). They’re good enough to improve any situation. Tacos are one of those foods that taste good no matter where you are. They can be delicious in any type of climate, in any situation, at any time of day, and basically just, well, anywhere. But as much as we would all like to eat tacos all the time, everywhere we go, during everything we’re doing, that’s not realistic.

The reason is simple, really: Tacos are messy and get all over the place, and it’s not exactly easy to multitask while eating them — and the same can be said for most of the items at Taco Bell. So to say we’re a little hesitant about Taco Bell’s newest feature is a bit of an understatement. Actually, the new Taco Bell Slide-Thru kind of sounds like a hospital visit waiting to happen. And yes, this is a real thing, and it’s probably going to blow your mind as well. Taco Bell has done some pretty crazy things in the name of publicity stunts, but this one might take the cake! So what’s going on?

Taco Bell is opening the world’s first “Slide-Thru” take-out window.

What does that even mean? It’s basically a Taco Bell take-out window at the bottom of a mountain that you can “slide through” (get it?) while you’re skiing or snowboarding. That means you can grab some Taco Bell after flying down a mountain. It’s kind of… genius? But also terrifying?

The fast food chain is doing this to celebrate the fact that they are bringing back the Cheetos Crunchwrap Slider.

The Cheetos Crunchwrap Slider is basically a Crunchwrap with Cheetos inside. So,  it’s all of your junk food dreams merged into one.

The bad news is that the Cheetos Crunchwrap Slider is only available in Canada… and so is the new Slide-Thru. The brand says, “Taco Bell fans at Horseshoe Resort near Barrie, Ontario, will get the chance to place their orders at the top of a tubing hill, slide down, and grab their Cheetos Crunchwrap Slider from a custom-built take-out window at the bottom.”

The Slide-Thru is going to be a very limited experience. It will only be open for the day on March 2nd, and will be running from 11:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. on a first come, first serve basis. So yes, you can expect the line to be pretty intense.

It does sound potentially dangerous — you can gain some pretty good traction speeding down a mountain at a ski resort, and we can only imagine the injuries that would occur if you went right into that line that’s sure to be there — but also like a once-in-a-lifetime experience. We’re almost tempted to head to Ontario just to try it out.

A lot of people on Twitter are really excited about the Slide-Thru:

A few people really want to book vacations in Ontario now. This is great for tourism!

This person wants Taco Bell to try it here in America. It would definitely be a huge hit.

And if you’re wondering if the Cheetos Crunchwrap Slider is worth the energy, apparently it is. Some people swear by it!

A lot of people have begged Taco Bell to introduce them to menus outside of Canada.

Some people are just wishing for a miracle at this point.

And some people want to go to Canada specifically to try it. If you missed it last time, now is your chance!

Anyway, the new Slide-Thru sounds dangerous, but also very cool. We’re torn!

Maybe they’ll do one in America. Anything is possible!
