McDonald’s Added A Surprising New Ingredient To Their Breakfast Sandwiches
The perfect breakfast item doesn’t exi — wait a sec. McDonald’s may have just perfected breakfast with their new version of the classic McGriddle. The fast food chain is currently trying out Blueberry McGriddles in the Washington D.C. area, and we certainly hope they plan to expand this new plan to the rest of the country. Savory and sweet? Yes, we’ll take 11, please.
The Blueberry McGriddle comes in the standard McGriddle forms: sausage; sausage, egg, and cheese; and bacon, egg, and cheese. Except, rather than being made with the classic McGriddle pancake, each sandwich is made with a blueberry McGriddle.
Sweet, simple, and to the point — just how we like our breakfast.
“The flavors from the real blueberries balanced with the sweet taste of maple, reminds me of the blueberry pancakes my mother used to make for us growing up,” Culinary Innovation Spokesperson for McDonald’s USA Carol Martino told Delish. “Imagine that combined with your choice of sizzling breakfast sausage or thick cut bacon nestled under a creamy slice of American cheese and fluffy egg. It’s everything you love about breakfast in one sandwich.”
Say no more, Carol. We’re sold. And we’re booking a flight to Washington D.C. to get a taste of the creation as we speak.
Prayers have been answered. The McDonald’s gods were listening.
The three new Blueberry McGriddles are only available for a limited time at participating Washington D.C. locations. However, if the feedback on them is good, McDonald’s *could* be expanding the promotion nationwide.
This is all great news to those of us who have grappled with the whole “sweet vs. savory” breakfast debate. Well, thanks to Mickey D’s, you can have both in a single bite.
We didn’t think the McGriddle could be improved upon. It’s hard to improve on perfection.
But… We were wrong. Clearly
It looks like the superior McDonald’s breakfast item has just gotten even more superior. Move over Egg McMuffin.
Just imagine this McDonald’s hack, but with a Blueberry McGriddle. Mind. Blown.
Nothing but respect for OUR breakfast go-to. And its blueberry counterpart, for that matter.
This, but with a Sausage Egg and Cheese Blueberry McGriddle. Think about it.
Even if you’re not a McDonald’s fan, you must admit that this is a genius idea. There’s no choice but to stan.
And hey — if you choose a Blueberry McGriddle, technically you’re getting some fruits into your diet. So… it’s healthy…?
It turns out love is real. And it exists at McDonald’s.
If you’re in the D.C. area, head to your local McDonald’s to see if they’re offering the Blueberry McGriddle. If so, we highly recommend you give it a try.
And please, McDonald’s. Do us a solid and install this promotion in every franchise.
Now that we know the Blueberry McGriddle exists, we need it, and we need it now.
