The world is still reeling from the loss of celebrity chef and television host Anthony Bourdain. Bourdain, who was only 61, was found dead in his hotel room in Kaysersberg, France. His friend and fellow chef, Eric Ripert, found him while he was unresponsive, after committing suicide. The two were in the midst of filming a new episode of Bourdain’s CNN hit show Parts Unknown. Along with an 11-year-old daughter, Bourdain left behind his girlfriend, Asia Argento, who he’s been linked to since 2016.

Argento initially commented on the death by referring to Bourdain’s “brilliant, fearless spirit” and calling him “my love, my rock, my protector.” But for the first time, she commented on how she’s been coping since the news broke.

The actress is currently in Berlin, trying to recover after Bourdain’s cremation, which reportedly happened in France. Through Instagram Stories, she shared a photo of her holding a piece of paper with “I’m a f— mess inside,” crossed out. Over the statement, she wrote, “I’m fine.” These feelings are understandable — trying to be strong when it’s hard, and feeling as if there’s little anyone can do to make the pain go away.

Argento also shared a Spanish prayer, which asked for God to give her some guidance, according to People.

Handling the sudden death of a loved one is hard to manage. It’ll take time for Argento to feel like herself again, and she may never feel that way again. Based solely on the numerous photos the two shared together, they had a strong, legitimate love for one another.

The two met while filming Parts Unknown. Argento, who also directs and produces, worked on a few episodes of the show alongside Bourdain.

Parts Unknown was expected to stop streaming on Netflix on June 16th, but the company made sure to extend the contract so that more fans could enjoy the cultural adventures that Anthony Bourdain took us on.

If you or a loved one is dealing with suicidal thoughts, you can use the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline as a resource. Their number: 1-800-273-8255. You are never alone.
