Oreo Is Bringing Back Their Firework Flavor To Make Your Mouth Explode

Is it just me, or is this year really flying by? This weekend is Easter, and after that, we’ll be celebrating the Fourth of July before we know it. Nothing says Fourth of July like a burger, a hot dog, and a cold beer. Oh, and also an Oreo.

Known as America’s favorite cookie, it looks like the company re-released one of their holiday favorites to celebrate July 4th.

Now, Oreo has come out with a few zany flavors before. But these are a little different, because thanks to their use of Pop Rocks, they actually explode in your mouth — much like a firework (but obviously way safer).

Now, here’s where things get a little suspicious. According to Delish, Oreo has said that these cookies weren’t in production this year. However, Walmart has them on their site. Since Walmart probably wouldn’t want to sell an old product, it’s possible these cookies may be a Walmart exclusive.

It’s tough to tell. But if you want to ensure that you’ll have them in time for the big holiday, you might want to place an order now, just in case.

Never tasted them before? They’re a lot like a regular Oreo, but jazzed up with the popping candy. So, have no fear — these will literally disappear at your big party.

Fans are already rejoicing on Twitter. When holiday snacks return, it makes the actual holiday even better.

These were actually pretty good, can't wait for them to come back. https://t.co/02oS5AHSYq

Firework Oreos originally debuted in 2017, and the concept was a little strange to most Oreo fans. Sure, you can tell what a crazy flavor like Kettlecorn would taste like, but what’s a firework supposed to taste like?

Some also thought the gimmick was a little too cheesy. After all, it’s just an Oreo with Pop Rocks.

The funny thing is that even though it’s right on the label, some people still had no clue. Thus, the popping was a disturbing surprise during the first taste.

And you have to admit that if you didn’t know, you might not openly be able to tell. The filling hides the fact pretty well.

As we know now, it’s way more about the texture than the actual taste. These were meant to add a little pop to your holiday.

And some Oreo fans prefer them over the real thing. Especially because the Fourth of July is often a nightmare for those of us with dogs.

instead of ruining the environment and scaring dogs by setting off fireworks can we agree to just eat firework oreos on the 4th from now on?

Sure, they’re just Oreos with Pop Rocks. But for plenty of Oreo fans, they became a quick new favorite.

My colleague brought me these Firework OREOs today. WHY AREN'T THESE ALWAYS AVAILABLE?! They pop-rocked my mouth to oblivion. I'm in love ❤️ pic.twitter.com/p1tYz868sU

And for others, they were a way to extend the holiday. Forget the 4th of July — why not celebrate the entire month of July?

July might be over, but as long as I have my firework Oreos, at least the fireworks won't end!! YUM!!! 💜💜💜 pic.twitter.com/J4VrDsYh66

Some people felt like it’d be okay if they went ahead and replaced standard Oreos. But that’s probably an unlikely opinion, especially when there’s room in the cookie aisle for both.

I'd be totally cool if the new Firework Oreos were the new Norm.
They're nothing special, but the popping candy gives a nice reward.

Firework Oreos even went international, proving that they could very well celebrate other holidays and occasions. So maybe Firework Oreos should just be an all-summer release.

Even though the representative seemed uncertain, it only makes sense for Oreo to pop these out again for the holiday. It seems like they’ve gotten nothing but rave reviews.

But still, you might want to play it on the safe side. For example, I was certain that Walmart still carried the ’90s snack Shark Bites, until I went to confirm.

And guess what. They were missing.

Firework Oreos may be here today, but may be gone tomorrow. That’s one of the bummers about shopping online. Since July isn’t next month, you may have some concerns about buying them early.

It all really depends on the expiration date. According to Men’s Health, you can usually eat snacks similar to the Fireworks Oreo for up to a month after the date on the box.

But eating them after that won’t pose a health risk, unless they’re poorly stored. They just won’t taste as good. So you may want to be safe rather than sorry in case Walmart pulls these at the last minute without any warning.
