Planning a wedding is hard work, but nothing is more stressful than deciding on the most important part of the reception— the food.
Food and drinks aren’t just there to keep your guests happy, but they’re a way of making a statement and injecting your personality and style into the occasion. And if you want your menu to stand out and make a lasting impression, choosing a theme and sticking to it is your best bet.
While some people have served some truly bizarre treats, including a life-size replica cake and bowls of cigarettes, nothing beats a classic wedding with a few quirks. Nothing too freaky, please!
There’s nothing worse than a sad-looking dessert table, but these brides and grooms took things to the next level, and there’s nothing sad about it.
These food-themed wedding photos are gorgeous, intimate, and some are extremely candid, but they all inspire a lot of joy.
From sneaky slices of pizza, and cakes made out of cheese, to fast-food destination weddings (yes, those are a real thing), we looked at the most epic wedding photos on the internet.
A Burger-Friendly Bride
She was loving it.
This beautiful Desi bride, Meera Popat looked ravishing, adorned in traditional scarlet hues and opulent jewelry but there was one accessory she was rocking that most South-Asian brides don’t—a McDonald’s burger and soda. It’s a gorgeous photograph and the blushing bride looks incredible, although we did spot the sneaky change below the waist. Pictured wearing black sweatpants, it’s clear this woman knows just how to enjoy one of the happiest days of her life.
Tacos And Sneakers
Name a better duo, I’ll wait.
When Mattie Arnold got married in October, 2017 this photographer captured a beautiful moment between the bride and the two other loves of her life: tacos and comfort. Teaming her beautiful ivory wedding dress with a crisp pair of white Keds, Mattie posed next to a wall declaring her love of tacos and we are in awe.
Beautiful And Ravenous
If you’ve been dieting to fit into a dress, there’s only one thing you want to do on your wedding day.
And that’s eating a whole lotta food. This bride still dressed to the nines is pictured sitting in a hotel room, still wearing her veil and dress looking coyly at the camera as she gorges herself on multiple plates of delicious treats. Six drinks and twelve plates of food later, she looks like one happy camper.
For The Love Of Pizza
This couple found a moment of joy with a slice.
Wedding photographers, Banga Studios captured this intimate and joyful moment between a happy couple who just got hitched. Pictured in the backseat of a car, the bride and groom are chowing down on some very delicious looking slices of pizza with what looks like a couple of shakes. You know what they say, couples who snack together stay together.
A Food Connection
Food simply brings people together.
Richelle and Johnny’s Californian wedding had a brief moment in front of San Pedro’s Korean Friendship Bell and we’re inspired. Holding a takeout bag, the couple is absolutely beaming and we know why. They’re about to share a delicious meal on their dream day, but even though we’re not sure what delicious treats they’re hiding, this is such an aspirational moment.
Married At Taco Bell
You can get married at Taco Bell for $600.
In 2017, Taco Bell announced it was opening a 24-hour wedding chapel on the Las Vegas strip and people turned up in droves. According to the New York Post, this dirt-cheap $600 wedding package included Taco Bell champagne flutes, “Just Married” t-shirts, a Taco Bell bow tie, and garter, a Cinnabon Delights wedding cake, and they even take care of the wedding bouquet for you, which is made of sauce packets. As for the catering? Your first meal as a married couple is a 12-pack of tacos.
Sweet Like Candy
This Australian couple looked extremely sweet on their big day.
High school sweethearts Chanel and Allen posed in front of giant candy canes and lollipops for their big day at their stunning Ground of Alexandria wedding. The restaurant which specializes in food and coffee is based in a former pie factory with an organic garden, where the couple held their ceremony.
Ooey Gooey Brownies
If you could dive into a pile of any food what would it be?
Well for one bride, she got to live that fantasy out on her wedding day with a towering heap of chocolate brownies. Serving herself a brownie wearing a stunning eggshell gown, this snap by wedding photographer, Ali Williamson is truly iconic. We just pray to the brownie gods that nothing stained that beautiful dress.
Nothing Says ‘Eternal Love’ Like Corn?
This couple found love through food.
This quirky duo took their wedding photos in a field of corn, but what’s more romantic than romance founded on sharing with the person you love. The caption reads: “I knew you were the one when I offered to share my food with you. No strings attached, no tricks. I just offered it out of nowhere, and I haven’t regretted it for a moment. Now that’s that true love baby.”
Cheese Wedding Cake
Minus the cake.
Wedding cakes are the piece de resistance of a marriage ceremony, but what if you want something a little different than a vanilla cake smothered in buttercream. For this cheese-loving bride and groom, the answer was obvious. This cake which features six different wheels of cheese is adorned with red and green grapes, figs, and topped with a little figurine of the couple. No plates required, just crackers and flatbreads ahead.
This Waffle House Wedding
Taking your wedding day photos in front of a Waffle House is more popular than you think.
A cursory search for Waffle House wedding day photos garners a slew of incredible photos of smiling brides and dashing grooms. And there’s even a Waffle House food truck available for your catering needs if you want to bring the smell of batter and butter to you. The photos are romantic, nostalgic, and have everyone’s tummies grumbling for a meal.
A Feast Fit For A Bride
This Mexico City photoshoot is stunning.
This couple tied the knot in a beautiful destination wedding, in Mexico City and they made sure to get a charming array of photos to remember their big day. Casey Caplowe, the co-founder and chief creative at GOOD Magazine married Ellen Bennett, founder of culinary brand Hedley & Bennett, and gave a nod to their foodie roots with this stunning photo.
This Thoughtful Wedding Day Picnic
This bride surprised her groom with an incredible present.
“How to surprise your foodie husband on your wedding day?” Emily writes in her caption. “A surprise picnic with our favourite snacks from all our travels together: pork buns (China), slices of bakkwa meat (Singapore), Nakatari pear lemonade (Georgia and the Caucasus), Pocky and Hello Panda (Japan), savory yoghurt ayran (Middle East), and all of the Ritter Sport chocolate (Germany).” So thoughtful and delicious.
A Dedication To Chick-Fil-A
Sharing some meals are more special than others.
This wedding must not have been held on a Sunday because this very cute photo of a bride and groom sharing their first meal as a married couple features the one type of chicken you can’t get on the seventh day of the week— Chick-Fil-A. Pictured sipping sodas and looking very much in love, we can’t think of anything more celebratory than starting the rest of your life with someone than with Chick-Fil-A sauce and a lemonade.
This Groom Who Loves Gelato
Some moments are priceless.
The day Simon married his wife, Jas was undoubtedly a magical occasion, but the groom could not contain his excitement when he realized there were tubs on tubs of gelato ready to be eaten for the special day. Their backyard wedding seemed like a hit, and if we’re just going off the look on Simon’s face, it was a moment to remember.
