If you’ve ever had the pleasure of eating raspberry jam, then you know that it’s delicious. It’s wonderful spread over a piece of toast, it’s ideal for mixing with peanut butter to create the perfect PB&J, and it’s even sweet enough to be used as a topping on your favorite ice cream. Unfortunately, what you read below just might ruin it for you (not forever — raspberry jam will always have a place in our hearts). The internet is super freaked out by this jar of jam, and it’s not hard to see why.
A particularly disturbing photo of a jar of Smuckers Raspberry Jam was recently posted to Reddit by user ydnac4axle. Now, Smuckers Raspberry Jam is normally pretty awesome, whether you choose to buy the jar that is seedless or not. If you like your jam with seeds (#fiber), then you might feel like the little seeds have a texture that is sort of strange, but you also know they’re not hurting anyone. You might also find that they elevate the taste. But after seeing the photo of a jar of raspberry preserves that are definitely not seedless, you might change your preferences… because this is just kind of horrifying. The Reddit user posted this photo with the caption, “this jar has way too many seeds in it,” which is basically the understatement of the year.

Look at all of the seeds! That is way, way too many seeds, and I have to be honest, it is really freaking me out. The seeds don’t even look like they came from a raspberry. Now you’ll never be able to unsee them!

Reddit users tried to make light of the weird situation, and, of course, were full of jokes about the jam. User Buckabuckaw said, “This must be the residue left over after they make their seedless raspberry jam. Waste not, want not.” User TheAmazingEtc had a great idea: “Maybe you could regrow the raspberries and get even more jam? Love this positive thinking, guys!
So, just in case you weren’t already, make sure you’re taking a good look at your jar of jam before you purchase it. You definitely don’t want to end up bring a jar of raspberry seeds home by mistake.
