Jamie Lee Curtis Was The Only One Who Didn’t Fall In Love With The Golden Globes’ Fiji Water Girl

Not too many scandals happened at this year’s Golden Globes, but one of the most notable was the courageous photobomber who managed to get in the way of a ton of celebrity red carpet shots. Holding Fiji water, she definitely made headlines. But while funny at first, not everyone was happy about what happened with the Fiji Water Girl. Actress Jamie Lee Curtis went on Instagram and made a pretty valid point you may not have realized.

In case you’re unaware, a photobomb is when someone finds a way to either ruin or crash a photo that they weren’t intended to be in. Many times, they’re very humorous — so much that people often go out of their way to try and make family vacation photos and bar selfies a little more memorable. But at an awards show, it’s a completely different story. Why? Well, because any image paired with a product like Fiji water suddenly reads as an endorsement.

“So, my husband, who doesn’t look at a lot of show business news sites, just mentioned that I was on the CNN website,” Curtis mentioned. “I specifically moved away from the blatant promotions by Fiji and Moet where young women with their trays filled with their wares stood near a designated camera. I knew why there was a photographer poised there and I moved away as I said out loud that I didn’t want to be doing advertising for either.”

The Fiji Water Girl, identified as Kelleth Cuthbert, was strategically behind many female celebrities that night.

She became so prominent that she literally became an online meme.

Even Cuthbert herself joined in on the fun, parodying herself for a few appearances after the Golden Globes.

She seems to be enjoying the attention and has racked up a ton of interviews.

Even though Cuthbert herself said to Glamour that she’d be old news pretty quickly, comments like the one Curtis made are making people see the stunt in a new light. Now, Curtis — along with the other celebs — has a tie with Fiji water. As she said, she made headlines for something she openly tried to avoid.

“The sponsors of events need to get permission from people when they get them to take their picture next to products,” Curtis’s Instagram stated.

While Cuthbert’s career is probably going to skyrocket after going viral, it’s pretty safe to say that you may not see Curtis sipping on a bottle of Fiji water anytime soon.
