Peeps Has Outdone Themselves With A Questionable Pancakes & Syrup Flavor

pancakes and syrup peeps

Marshmallows for breakfast? Hey, why not? It’s what put Lucky Charms on the map. With this on the brain, Peeps just revealed their 2019 Easter flavors, and there’s one breakfast-related new arrival that sounds oddly delicious. Or, maybe just odd.

If your knowledge of Peeps doesn’t go beyond their standard yellow birds and pink bunnies, just know that the brand has been making so many innovative strides in recent years. They’ve made Peeps dipped in chocolate, Peeps in the shape of a bouquet, and my personal favorite — gingerbread Peeps to help celebrate the winter holidays. Holidays in general seem to be their new strong point. Once known for having famous marshmallows geared mostly towards Easter, they’ve seemed to cover all the major seasons with innovative new tastes.

Created by Just Born Quality Confections, Peeps have been around since 1953. And based on the fact that they’re still growing (and have somewhat of a cult following), they probably aren’t going anywhere anytime soon.

Known for offering certain flavors in select markets and locations, Peeps will be releasing some of their new Easter products nationally and some in specific stores. So if you’re interested in their Pancakes & Syrup Flavored Marshmallow Chicks, you’re in luck — those are getting a nationwide release.

Oh yes. You heard me right. Pancakes. And. Syrup.

Peeps

It’s definitely an odd choice. Who knows what a pancake-flavored marshmallow actually tastes like?

Do you think it picked up a pancake’s buttery hints? Or does it rely more on the sweetness of syrup to lift it up?

When you first hear about it, it might have made you gag. Just because it’s a combination your brain hasn’t had adequate time to really sort through yet.

But here’s the thing: Plenty of people have already tried them and recommended them to other snack fans.

So, this very well may be the flavor you never knew you needed. They’re shockingly making people’s mouths water.

Since Just Born has been popping out Peeps for decades, it should come as no surprise that they know what they’re doing. If the flavor wasn’t appealing, they probably wouldn’t even consider releasing it nationwide.

But still, they might want to also think of their fans who like the originals and just want to see them in a bunch of different colors. Because those are the Peeps that really make our Easter baskets shine.

Since “Pancakes & Syrup” is now a flavor that’s quickly become accepted among the bravest of Peeps fans, we wonder whether or not they’ll be inspired to pump out other breakfast flavors. It may sound super gross, but can you imagine bacon-flavored Peeps?

It’d be interesting (disgusting?) to see what a scrambled egg and cheese Peep would taste like. But that one may be a little too out there. Keep in mind, at the end of the day, these are marshmallows we’re talking about.

Pancakes & Syrup made their national debut alongside new flavors like Cotton Candy and Orange Sherbet Dipped in Crème Flavored Fudge, the latter of which is part of their “Delights” line. But their other flavors might require you to hit additional stores.

Their Root Beer Float flavor, which sounds amazing, will only be available at Kroger stores. (But if you don’t have one near you, you could always just make a root beer float at home. Surely you’re craving one right now.)

Target is selling two kinds of Peeps Delights. So if Vanilla Crème or Chocolate Vanilla Swirl sound like something up your alley, you may want to book a trip ASAP. (They also sell Peeps cereal there, FYI.)

Finally, if you’re a Walmart regular, you’ll be able to find Blue Raspberry Peeps along with their other fun snacks. It’s not the first time they’ve been released, but they’re a limited crowd favorite. Consider them to be like the McRib of Peeps.

But as far as fun goes, none of these flavors are as cool as Pancakes & Syrup. It’s unclear how long these’ll be hanging around in stores, so if you’re a fan, you might want to stock up.

And if not, at least you can enjoy the fact that Peeps pushed the limit a bit and isn’t afraid to think outside the box (or, Easter basket).
