When it comes to Starbucks’s flavored drinks, the Pumpkin Spice Latte will always rule fall — but the summer belongs to the Frappuccino. The blended ice drink has come a long way since 1995, the first year it was introduced to all U.S. and Canadian Starbucks stores. Back then, the only flavors were coffee and mocha — caramel arrived four years later, bringing with it the iconic domed lids.
But 24 years since the first Starbucks Frappuccino was made and a summer staple born, we now have flavors we couldn’t have dreamed of, including a brand new one that’s got us excited and a little bit jealous, because it sounds like an actual dessert.
No, we’re not talking about the chocolate and marshmallowy S’mores Frappuccino, which has been making an annual poolside (slash campfire) appearance every summer since 2015. Starbucks just announced that they’re releasing a Strawberry Donut Frappuccino. Picture strawberry puree in the bottom of the cup, topped with a mixture made of donut pieces blended with milk and ice, finished with whipped cream and dried strawberry crumbles.
The catch? They’re only available at Starbucks in the U.K.

Which means we’re relying on Starbucks fans across the pond to share their reviews. So far, it’s enough to give us Frappuccino FOMO:
@StarbucksUK the new #strawberrydonutfrappucino literally replicates eating the jam part of a donut first and slowly gets more vanilla. LOVE IT #addicted

Apparently it really delivers on that tantalizing name…

American Starbucks fans have been left out in the cold before. Well, the heat.
@Starbucks can you please make the white choclate Frappuccino available in America not only japan 🙏🙏🙏

In November 2018, Japan got a holiday treat in the form of the White Chocolate Snow Frappuccino: a white chocolate and milk drink topped with whipped cream, mini marshmallows, edible silver balls, and a white chocolate drizzle. And now we’re planning on Frappuccinos all year round.

This isn’t the first time Japan has gotten a Frappuccino flavor that’s been denied to those of us in the U.S. And this other one really stings…

American Cherry Pie Frappuccino pic.twitter.com/FvBXYkWzzB
Er, so you’re telling us that this is American cherry pie and we don’t even get to try it?
@Starbucks: You need to bring that Cherry Pie Frappuccino stateside this year! Because I want that in my mouth! The calories be dammed, I don't care. I keep a fat kid locked inside of me & I would let him out to play for that.

In case you’re wondering, yes that is a real pie crust, underneath which you’ll find a creamy vanilla drink, layers of cherry compote, and then whipped cream on the top. That’s the theory:
It’s not just Japan and the U.K. Throwing back to August 2018, certain countries in South America and the Caribbean — including Brazil, Chile, Bolivia, Panama, and Trinidad & Tobago — got to experience the Galaxy Frappuccino for a limited time.
It involved a creamy cotton candy drink with grape-flavored “cosmic dust,” topped with whipped cream and sprinkles of edible pink and blue glitter, all of which looked like a swirling galaxy waiting to be guzzled.

Frappuccinos have come a long way since those early coffee-only days. Hopefully we’ll get to try the Strawberry Donut Frappuccino on this side of the pond, and if not, PSL season is right around the corner.
