Target Plans To Raise Its Minimum Wage To $13 An Hour, And This Is Major

Target is a lot of things. It’s a one-stop-shop for a fresh cup of Starbucks coffee, cheap groceries, and even cheaper wine. It’s also a Mecca for trendy clothes and things you didn’t know you need. Target is basically a dream come true, and they certainly know a thing or two about turning people into loyal customers. However, starting June 2019, the brand will do something even cooler.

The retail giant plans to raise its minimum wage to $13 an hour.

Considering the competitive nature of the labor market, this is huge news. Target’s biggest competitor, Walmart, only pays their workers a minimum wage of $11. The hourly pay of $13 may be what Target needs to attract more employees to their stores.

Currently, Target’s minimum wage is $12. Tacking on that extra dollar will make a huge difference in employees’ paychecks.

In fact, Target hopes to keep raising its minimum wage over the next few years. According to an article on NBC News, in 2017, the company shared that it wanted to increase their minimum hourly pay to $15 by 2020. Will they make it happen? Well, we can’t predict the future, but we’re glad to see that they’re making progress.

Back in March 2018, Target raised their hourly wage from $11 to $12.

Now, in 2019, it’s going from $12 to $13.

Let’s hope they keep moving at this pace!

As one of the most popular retail companies in the country, Target has more than 1,800 stores.

They also employ more than 300,000 employees.

For entry-level employees, the change in minimum wage is excellent news.

It’s yet another reason to love the wonderful world of Target.

Let’s face it. Who isn’t obsessed with Target?

The retail giant is a cult favorite, and it’s easy to see why.

It’s difficult to walk into Target and stay on track.

This is especially true if you’re on a no-buy challenge.

Besides, where else can you get a bikini, cheap wine, and tonight’s dinner?

Don’t forget the cute mugs and blankets, too.

Either way, we’re excited for this change at Target.

There’s a lot of competition out there, and the labor market is tight these days.

Costco, for example, offers a minimum hourly pay of $15.

We hope Target will keep working hard to raise their minimum hourly wage.

Let’s keep our fingers crossed!
