Happy birthday to you! Wait, what’s that? It’s not your birthday? Well, that’s okay. You can still celebrate something at Starbucks. And if you happen to live in Japan, you can commemorate that occasion with a cake drink. It’s perfect for anyone who loves cake, but is too busy jet-setting to actually sit down and enjoy a piece.
The drink is called Christmas Strawberry Cake Milk, and it’s based around a popular holiday tradition in Japan. Much like we celebrate with milk and cookies, Japan celebrates with strawberry cake. The drink is brand new this year, but bound to be a hit — and once you see a picture, you’ll understand why. It looks like nothing Starbucks has ever served up before.
Real Christmas cake is made with whipped cream, strawberries, and — of course — the batter itself. According to Starbucks, their Christmas Strawberry Cake Milk drink consists of steamed milk, strawberry compote, and a yummy white mocha syrup. Whipped cream, strawberries, and biscuits top the drink, which is where the cake inspiration really comes together.
It sounds good, but it sounds even better as a Frappuccino. Good thing it’s available in both forms.
It’s a pretty drink as well, which means it’s perfect for Instagram. Excited fans have already shared theirs, and surely more photos will be uploaded as the holidays get closer.
It’s a shame that these aren’t available in the United States, but we’ve got plenty of delicious holiday drinks to help us close out the year. From eggnog to caramel to gingerbread, there’s surely at least one drink that’ll speak to you this season.
