Starbucks Released A New Witch Frapp That’s Making Us Very Uncomfortable

One of the best battles of all time is the battle of good versus evil. That’s why we have so many superheroes and powerful villains out there. With this in mind, Japanese Starbucks locations are putting a Halloween spin on this trend in a fun way. But while it’s clever, one of the drinks looks just a little too unappetizing to drink.

The two new competing Frappuccinos are called Witch and Princess. As expected, the Princess Frapp goes all in — it’s pink, it has beads that are actually sprinkles, and it’s pretty much the Frappuccino that Cinderella would sip on. The Witch Frapp, on the other hand, is a little more grotesque. It’s got splotches of color, including a deep red that looks a little bloody. (And by a little, we mean a lot.)

Listen — nothing against blood-red drinks, especially around Halloween. But if you were to ask me to choose between a pink whipped cream dream and something that looked like it was made in a cauldron, I’d probably choose the former. Actually, no — I’d choose both of them, but it’d be the Princess Frapp that I’d happily post on Instagram. The Witch drink might require a blindfold and all of the courage I can muster.

Speaking of Instagram, TastyJapan, who work with Starbucks, posted a short-yet-detailed video about both Frapps. It doesn’t make the red look more appealing, but it’s still a must-watch for all the Frappuccino fans out there.

The red blood is created with apple compote. The Princess drink also uses apples, but in a different way — according to HypeBae, it’s apples that help give it such a gorgeous pink color. The Witch variety does have more good things going for it, like caramel cookie, milk, and chocolate sauce.

Like with most good Frapps, these will only be available for a limited time in Japan. It makes you wonder what other types of dueling Frappuccinos Starbucks might create in the future.
