The Cookies At Meghan Markle’s Baby Shower Were More #Basic Than We Expected

Meghan marble's baby shower

It’s almost spring, and you know what that means — it’s almost time for Meghan Markle to give birth to her baby. The child is the first for her and Prince Harry, which means there’s an exceptional amount of buzz. Will it be a boy or a girl? Unfortunately, the small glimpse that fans got regarding Meghan Markle’s baby shower, which took place in N.Y., doesn’t tell us too much, except for “the cookies look okay.”

Don’t get me wrong, they’re gorgeous cookies.

But it seems like they’re a little tame for the Duchess of Sussex. The snacks were posted on Instagram by guest Daniel Martin, who’s Markle’s makeup artist. Markle trusted Martin in styling her look for her big day, which means she trusts him a lot.

That could be why the picture, in no way, mentioned Markle.

In fact, it seems like most of her guests have kept things hush-hush. The cookies are one of the few photos we got, which is why they’re being analyzed so heavily.

Martin featured three, all in white — one was a stork, one was shaped like a rattle with gold embellishments, and one was simply a bib that had “baby” written on it.

Here’s what else People could figure out about the big party. It was reportedly held at The Mark Hotel, which means that food was likely served by chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten.

Harpist Erin Hill was also spotted, meaning that she probably performed for Markle and her guests.

Gayle King, also known as Oprah’s BFF, also revealed that Markle had guests make flower arrangements.

Those arrangements were later given to different charities and organizations, which is such a sweet gesture.

But, the cookie is what’s the most important here. Not just because it’s food, but because snacks are so important at baby showers.

Some people love the fact that while Markle gave away some tidbits, she still kept it a personal event.

Obviously, we’re all curious, but aside from being a duchess and an actress who was in the spotlight for many years, she’s also a nervous mom-to-be.

Others think it’s a little weird that she seemed to leave royalty behind.

Markle acted and dressed a lot like she would have outside of the royal family, and it looks like nobody from Harry’s side managed to make it.

But still, it’s refreshing that Markle was able to have a nice little celebration with her friends. Regardless of who she’s married to, she’ll always be Meghan Markle.

And maybe that’s why the cookies were cute, but a little standard. If she chooses to have a secondary party in England, things might be a little more lavish.

Here are some examples of the types of cookies most people were expecting:

Cookies like these are a bit more embellished.

Also, no two cookies are identical, making each treat extra special.

These deer cookies are also super sweet, both by looks and by taste.

As you can tell, so much detail went into each and every one.

These cookies are so classy that they don’t even look like cookies.

Still, they’re perfect for a baby shower where the gender has yet to be revealed.

But cookies don’t need to have a color to symbolize gender.

The best ones are colorful in their own way, which is something else Markle’s cookies lack. (At the very least, she didn’t present these very-real cookies shaped like her and Prince Harry.)

Still, let’s be honest here.

Markle’s cookies were probably delicious, and she likely loved the fact that someone made them to celebrate her new arrival. Perhaps the fact that they don’t give any clues away is why they seem to underperform because fans literally can’t wait to find out more.

I’d guess they were pretty pricey, since the shower in general reportedly cost $200,000. That bill was taken care of by her buddy Serena Williams.

There are still so many questions we have left about Markle’s new baby. While we know he or she is due in the spring, an exact date hasn’t been announced. Technically, Markle’s baby can arrive at any time.

Judging by her bump, she’s definitely near the end — but luckily, still safe enough to fly.

BBC states that the safest time to fly while pregnant is before the 37-week mark, unless you’re expecting twins.

Still, that recommendation would make me nervous.

Even though full term is 40 weeks, it’s scary to know that giving birth while in the air is something that could happen.

But knowing Meghan Markle, she took all the precaution she could.

It’s so great that she was able to visit with her friends before the baby’s big arrival. Serena Williams probably gave her a ton of excellent advice about what to expect those first few weeks!
