13 Foods That Affect Your Libido

It can be a real bummer when you constantly find yourself “not in the mood.” Or, maybe you get frustrated with your partner after date night because they’d rather go to sleep than get frisky. Have you ever considered the lack of sexual motivation could be due to the food you’re eating?

Unfortunately, romance does not just come from love and attraction. The body has other needs that have to be met first. Ladies, your libido level must stay high and gentlemen maybe you need a testosterone boost.  Here are several surprising foods that may actually be hurting your sex life.

The worst kind of breakfast…

Cornflakes and other cereals are every child’s first love. Too bad it could potentially ruin our chances of a healthy love life. Carbohydrates found in most cereals decrease libido levels.

Did you know bagels are very high in sodium? Sodium raises blood pressure and high blood pressure lowers your libido. Don’t start your day by killing the chances of a great night.

Soy-based veggie burgers are high in estrogen, which will have the ladies on the prowl. Unfortunately for men, soy will end their sexual desires quickly.

A nice cheese spread is a great snack, but not when you’re seeking a high production of testosterone. Some cheeses made from cow’s milk contain synthetic hormones that will set back the production of natural hormones.

I’m sure you want to enjoy a nice stroll around the neighborhood with your honey, snacking on a delicious ice cream treat. Well, ice cream doesn’t agree with your intentions. The saturated fat in ice cream will slow blood circulation and put a halt to testosterone.

Alcoholic beverages might seem like they put you in the mood, but too much will lower libido levels in women. Also, beers that have phytoestrogens in them will decrease testosterone in males.

Date Night Gone Bad…

Skip the steak on date night. Eating any red meat makes the digestive system work overtime. This isn’t the best idea when you need stamina for the night.

The compound phytoestrogens are inside tofu too, waiting to dissipate testosterone levels. Avoid tofu, if possible, if you’re planning on having a fun night.

There’s a chemical called perfluorooctanoic (can’t pronounce it but apparently it’s not good) lurking in the lining of microwavable popcorn bags. This chemical cannot only lower sex drive in men but it can also decrease their sperm count.

Milk Chocolate and all of its sugary components are known to kill sex drives in men and women alike. Steer clear of chocolate when choosing desserts, unless you choose dark chocolate, which in turn is an aphrodisiac.
