Everyone Is Freaking Out About “Sugar Rush,” A Baking Competition Show, Coming To Netflix

It’s safe to say that Netflix is seeing success with cooking and baking competition shows. The platform, which had a hand in bringing Nailed It!  — which stars amateur bakers trying to recreate a Pinterest-worthy challenge — to life, is hoping that their next baking competition show is also a hit. It’s called Sugar Rush, and it features contestants racing against the clock to finish creating their baked goods in time.

Sugar Rush is the new, relentlessly fast-paced baking competition that challenges brilliant bakers to create sweet treats that look beautiful and taste amazing — all against the clock,” Netflix said, according to Delish.

Candace Nelson will be one of the judges on the show. There’s a good chance you’ve never heard her name, but have tasted her delicious creations before. She’s the brains behind the popular Sprinkles cupcakes, which started with just one Los Angeles-based shop. (Sprinkles is also the company behind the cupcake ATM, which is pure genius.)

While Nelson could handle the show on her own, she’ll have a co-judge — Australian pastry chef Adriano Zumbo, who isn’t a stranger to competitive cooking shows. He appeared on MasterChef Australia and also had his own show called Zumbo’s Just Desserts.

People are already pretty excited about their selection of judges.

Honestly, there’s so much to love about cooking competition shows that the world can never have enough. There’s a good chance that this one will inspire viewers to break out the cake pans and bake something delicious. But unlike the premise of the show, there’ll be no rush.

Yummy Pro Tip:

If you can’t get enough of all things cooking and baking on Netflix, you should check out these hits: The Great British Baking Show, Chef’s Tableand of course, Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown. Happy binge-watching!
