Your Favorite Candy Bars Will Soon Glow In The Dark, And Is This Safe?

glow in the dark candy

It doesn’t matter how old you are — glow-in-the-dark things will always have an element of cool to them. With this in mind, some genius out there figured that glow-in-the-dark candy would be an absolutely amazing idea for Halloween this year, and it sounds like the greatest discovery that’s happened to candy since it was invented. But — it’s safe, right?

Here’s the part where it all make sense. The candies in question— including Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, Kit-Kats, and Hershey’s Milk Chocolate — will only have glow-in-the-dark wrappers. Nothing potentially poisoning is in the chocolate itself. Who knows — one day, maybe the candy itself will glow, but today just isn’t that day.

Still, making the wrappers glow is pretty brilliant. Can you imagine how good a bowl of them will look on your porch? It’ll add the perfect eerie element to the big day. (It’s almost surprising that Hershey didn’t think up such a clever idea sooner.)

The bad news is that these tasty snacks are only going to be available for the Halloween season. It’d be pretty cool to watch our wrappers glow year-round, like makeshift night lights. If that’s the reality you’re hoping for, you might want to stock up while you can.

Here’s what they look like in stores:

But more importantly, here’s how all three of them look with the lights out:

Not bad, right?

These aren’t the only Halloween products that Hershey is releasing this year. Hershey’s caramel apples are also on shelves, which would be an interesting addition to any trick-or-treat haul.

The good news is that with the glow in the dark candies, you somewhat know what to expect — the chocolates you love with cooler-than-ever package.
