It’s hard to believe, but Mindy Kaling’s daughter, Katherine, is already 6 months old. And parents everywhere know what that means — it’s time to start adding more adventurous purees and solids to the mix. It can be a scary time for moms, but also a rewarding one. Can you imagine what it must be like to taste banana for the first time?

Kaling created an Instagram Story that clued her fans into the whole process. While she’s been secretive about what little Katherine looks like (more power to her for keeping that private), she dished on what kinds of foods her little girl has been eating. Let’s just say that this kid has got it good.

One of the ways that Katherine influenced Kaling’s life is by inspiring her to prep food in advance, which is something the actress admitted she’s never done before.

In her July 8th story, Mindy explained why prepping food is so important.

“One of the most rewarding parts of my weekend is doing meal prep for my daughter because she’s now eating foods…I never did this for myself before I had a kid,” she explained, per Food & Wine. “I know that there’s so many good, prepared organic baby foods out there that you can buy, but because I work, I like making them on the weekends because it makes me feel like I’m a part of my daughter’s life.”

Some of the foods Kaling showcased were sweet potatoes, green beans, salmon, and mango. All of it looked delicious.

Even if you’ve been doing it for some time, planning meals is a total hack — not only will you save a ton of time during your week, but you won’t have to spend any mental energy wondering what you should have for lunch and dinner. Since Mindy Kaling has a lot on her plate, it’s a wonderful way to bond with her daughter and create some early memories.

Are you a paranoid parent who’s worried about transitioning your kid to solids? We’ve created a guide for you, which you can find here. Deep breath — you’ve got this.
