Now that we’re reaching the end of the year, you might be seeing a few telltale traditions hit the internet. There are pictures of kids with Santa on Facebook, people’s “Top 9” of 2018 on Instagram, and Google trends regarding the most searched celebrities and trends. And also cake.
There was one cake in particular that was looked at more than any other, and when you see it, you’ll clearly understand why. It’s called unicorn cake, and any girl who was born in the ’80s will truly get its appeal.
While she didn’t create the baked good, it’s a little obvious as to where the inspiration came from. Back in the day, Lisa Frank made shopping for school supplies exciting. Even more so, she knew what exaggerated features made animated animals even cuter. She was a big fan of color, and often used hot pink to a blinding amount. We loved it all. And still love it. Which may be why this cake has become so popular throughout the year.
Unicorn cake doesn’t necessarily have to look like a unicorn, but the inside of it is a party in itself. Just take a few looks at the unicorn cakes that bakers have whipped up all around the world.
Now, those are bound to put a smile on everyone’s face.
Just know that if you’re asked to make a unicorn cake for someone you love, it’s an easier home project than you might assume. It may be scary if you’re new to the world of stacking cakes, but eventually, you’ll become a pro. It’s just hard to turn down the opportunity to create something so cheerful.
