Sorry, But Food Network Just Got More Expensive To Watch

Fans of Food Network aren’t too happy with Comcast — along with channels like Cartoon Network and TruTV, Comcast chose to move which channel tier Food Network fell into. That means that in order to keep watching shows, customers will have to pay more money per month.

The change happened earlier this month, and fans of the network weren’t given notice that the channel would soon disappear. The channels, which were once part of the “Digital Economy” package have been moved to Comcast’s “Digital Starter” package, which is between $10 to $20 more expensive, per USA Today. That means that customers who were all set to watch Cupcake Wars were instead greeted with an error, saying the channel was no longer in their tier.

Even though Comcast offered other channels to replace Food Network, BBC World News just isn’t as entertaining.

Comcast stated that they made this switch-up after examining their networks and their viewership. “We understand that some customers find this programming valuable, and we will work with them to explain options that may help them continue to watch this programming or other content like it,” Jenni Moyer, Comcast’s senior director of corporate communications, said to USA Today. We’re glad that Comcast is looking into this — maybe they just underestimated the love that the American people have for Food Network.

Customers aren’t pleased, and made sure to let Comcast know through social media.

My fave, @SophiaBush, was a judge on @FoodNetwork Beat Bobby Flay, but I can’t watch it because @comcast thinks it’s necessary to take away the one channel I watch so they can make more money 😠

. @comcast just switched my channels & I don't get @FoodNetwork anymore.
If you need me, I'll be heating up frozen dinners & crying in the corner. #ComcastSucks

Upset @Comcast just tried to watch @FoodNetwork and found out it was removed from my lineup the only channel I ever watched. I would rather have dropped HBO

We were never too happy with our cable package, but our saving grace was we still had @FoodNetwork. Now it’s gone too with no warning. What gives @XFINITY @comcast? Time to cancel.

The ComcastCares twitter account responded to some of the complaints by saying they “look at our channel lineup from time to time and realign as needed.” But, something tells me that response isn’t going to cheer up Food Network fans.

While it’s not the same, at least reruns of a couple Food Network shows — like Cutthroat Kitchen, Diners, Drive-ins and Dives, and Chopped — are currently streaming on Hulu.
