Twitter Wants To Know: Which Is Better, The Flat Or Drum Part Of A Chicken Wing?

When a basket of hot, juicy chicken wings arrives at your table, are you reaching for a drum or flat piece first? If you have a preference, Twitter needs your answer now. On this year’s National Chicken Wing Day, the question “Which chicken wing tastes better — drum or flat?'” surfaced on Twitter and caused the Great Chicken Wing Debate of 2018. This question has had chicken lovers at odds for centuries, and even after all this time, neither side is chickening out on their decision.

No matter what anyone says, I am #TeamFlat for one solid reason: crispy skin. My favorite part of a chicken wing is the crispy texture and flavor, which is typically neglected on drum pieces (ugh). Plus, flats are way easier to dip in sauces without creating a big mess. I always pay extra at restaurants to accommodate my love of flat wings. The flat to drum ratio in my order has to favor flats.

Unfortunately, there are many people who disagree with my flat wing obsession, and Twitter is currently divided between drums and flats. I’m not sure which side is winning or if this debate will ever end.

Maybe preference comes with age. A few chicken lovers admitted to a recent change of heart.

Meanwhile, others correlate wing preference with life choices.

Honestly, maybe the world needs this chicken wing debate to stay unresolved to make sure neither cut runs out.
