Princess Eugenie’s Royal Wedding Cake Is Somehow More Epic Than Meghan Markle’s

On the morning of October 12th, the second royal wedding of 2018 took place. Princess Eugenie (also known as Prince William and Prince Harry’s cousin) and Jack Brooksbank got married, and all of our favorite royals were there. Meghan Markle wore Givenchy, Kate Middleton stunned in pink, and Prince George and Princess Charlotte were the cutest members of the wedding party. But apart from the guests, there was one small detail that stole the show: the cake. If you’re a fall bride (or if you just love dessert), you have to see the latest royal wedding cake. (It’s somehow more epic than Meghan Markle’s!)

This wasn’t your ordinary naked wedding cake (which has been a big trend as of late) or something low-key and simple. It was elaborately and beautifully decorated, with flowers that perfectly fit the weather outside. And fortunately for us, the official royal family Twitter account posted a photo of it.

The five-tier cake was made of red velvet and chocolate cake, covered in white frosting, and decorated with gold embellishments, including the initials E and J. Draped around it was a garland of fall flowers, ivy, berries, and bright orange and yellow leaves.

The cake was made and designed by West London-based cake designer Sophie Cabot. In a YouTube video released on Thursday, she said, “Even the flavor, I think, has got an autumn feel to it.”

Cabot also described the cake as “modern, but it’s also traditional.” She said it was decorated with sugar work and hand-painting, and was made with about 400 eggs, as well as lots of other ingredients.

A close-up shot of the details shows just how much work was put into this masterpiece.

Markle’s cake for comparison:

While we’re not pitting these cakes against each other, we have to say that Princess Eugenie’s might… take the cake.

Although Cabot said that she found the cake to be a “challenge” because of its size, it’s clear that she overcame that challenge. Autumn brides, let this act as your official wedding cake inspiration!
