We’ve all heard the story about how Prince Harry proposed to Meghan Markle over roast chicken. Even though she said yes (of course), perhaps it would have been even better if he popped the question while they were chowing down on her guilty pleasure food — French fries. Just like us, the Duchess of Sussex likes to eat fries, and can you blame her?
French fries come in various forms, and it doesn’t seem like Markle is choosy. Back when she was acting on Suits, she allowed herself to splurge a bit more than usual on days when she wasn’t filming. She’s since retired from acting to join the royal family, so hopefully she’s found a few occasions to treat herself. All eyes might be on her all the time, but a girl’s gotta live.
“On hiatus, all bets are off,” Markle told Delish, while discussing her guilty pleasure foods, noting that she liked to snack on French fries during lunch. “I’m always hoping I’m having lunch with people, so we can share fries. It’s its own food group for me.”
Fingers crossed that Prince Harry shared a plate with her to celebrate their marriage. According to Forbes, 29 million people watched the two of them say “I Do.”
Personally, in order to handle that kind of stress, I’d need a full mixing bowl filled with fries.
Markle is also a big fan of poutine, a Canadian dish that’s focused around fries, gravy, and cheese curds. Since Suits was filmed in Toronto, she became quite familiar with how to create the perfect poutine. “It’s got to squeak when you bite into it,” she said. “Really. The cheese curds should make a squeaking noise when you bite into them or squeeze them. That’s how you know you’ve got the right kind.”
You might want to add “fry expert, with a focus in poutine” to Meghan Markle’s already impressive list of titles.
